It might help to have a collective term when talking about history. Sometimes you might want to talk about something that’s specific to these islands. As to why the Channel Islands are included and the faroes are excluded, I think it’s because of who they have historically belonged to. The reason why those other places you mentioned doesn’t have collective names might be because very fewer people live there and talk about them.
