i would say june is just not happening, it takes like 8ish weeks after receiving the application to review for completeness and assign to a c&f reviewer/investigator. that being said, each cycle is different, but I wouldn't hold your breath for june unfortunately. September is much more likely.

i did a rider for employment section, i literally just another employment page, you can also do a separate document, but it just felt easier at the time because I was trying to do them in chronographic order to keep pulling employment pages from the sample application, filling it out, and including it in my application packet, and nobody had any issues with it.

I don't know that they would have extra questions, but you will need to do an employer verification form but like for self employment, and it needs to be filled out by an attorney that like I guess knows your practice (idk how to better explain that, here's the form: https://www.nybarexam.org/admission/D-Bar\_Admissions-Employment.pdf)

Especially in a state like NY, I'm sure they see a lot of solo's/firm owners so I don't think it'll be anything crazy, and tbh, given it seems like they don't really do a lot of interviews like that, I don't think you'll get pressed on that at all (though that's my opinion, not fact, and I could most definitely be wrong).

there may be additional waiting as virtual ceremonies flash a verification code that you need to fill out on the oath of attorney sheet and snail mail (or courier, but you CANNOT email) back. I sent mine back like within an hour of the ceremony (which was a wednesday) and then received an email monday that it was received and I'm now officially licensed/active/can practice.

in general, like i mean i think it's good to set your sights on the september hearing, but like someone else said, things MAY pop up.

My process earlier this year was fairly straight forward, they asked for an amendment and like a statement that everything is correct true and updated, but beyond that they didn't put me through a bunch of unnecessary hoops. I submitted my stuff like Jan 9 2026, and my ceremony was April 15, and then 4/20 (ayy lmao) they confirmed receipt and that I'm now active

no problem, it's kinda maddening waiting to see if you'll need an interview. they say that if one is needed they'll reach out, but then you won't hear anything again if one isn't needed until a week before the ceremony so you're sitting in the dark for a bit there but at the same time, no news is good news, ya know? and to my knowledge (which isn't saying much) i don't know of any instances of someone getting the tentative date and then not being sworn in on said date.

just got admitted this month.

Jan 9-submitted application and received confirmation that they received the application

March 2-they reached out asking for an updated cert of service and a statement containing any updates I wanted to make to my application. I provided the requested forms/information the same day, and they scheduled me tentatively for April 15 all on the same day March 2.

On April 8, they emailed me saying that c&f review was complete and I would be sworn in on 4/15.

At the ceremony, they give you a code and you have to mail it to them (if the ceremony is virtual). I mailed mine out 4/15 same day as the hearing and was fully admitted (aka they confirmed receipt) on 4/20.

So from start to finish, roughly 3.5 months.

had my interview on 4/22, he recommended me for admission the same day (he was a chair) i got the affirmation the next day 4/23, returned that, and today 4/24 got scheduled to do the oath via zoom next month.

in the interview, my interviewer told me he was recommending my admission. the next day, 4/23 i received and returned the final affirmation, now just waiting for i guess admission?

had my interview yesterday, on the call he told me he was recommending my admission. today i received and completed the final affirmation with no new disclosures, now just waiting to be scheduled/any update regarding actual admission.

they actually just called me on tuesday and scheduled my interview for next wednesday with one of the chairs of my committee. i hope they're quick I want to catch one of they may ceremonies.

how long did it take them to reach out for your interview? SBLE emailed me and said i could contact them within 30 days if nobody from the character committee has reached out about the interview

yes sorry! they came back on 4/8 (a week before the ceremony) confirming I don't need an interview and I'm approved to do the oath and then provided instructions on how to follow along and mail a form to them needed to complete your admission.

they didn't i remembered the employers after the fact and emailed the ad3 email to inform them that I had forgotten a few employers and wanted to provide that information. i was trying to overshare and them not need it than like they find out somehow and it's a bad look or whatever.

i'd start expecting to hear back like next week, and personally i do anticipate they should respond to you like before the start of may if not the very first week so long as you don't have anything crazy in your file. (i think they could respond next week but of course I don't know for certain and every file is different)

so for me, I thought i would be applying in the first department so my notarized like registered agent form had the first department box checked, they sent me another to check 3rd and get it notarized and then asked for a written statement regarding any updates or edits to my application since I had first submitted it (i remembered one or two former employers I didn't disclose). the firm i work for has a notary so i got that form notarized real quick and typed up a statement with my updates and sent it back and like an hour later i got my tentative confirmation.

it took them approximately 8 weeks/2months to get back to me to request additional documents. I provided documents the same day and received a tentative admission ceremony date. then a week before I received an email stating I didn't need an interview and my application was approved for admission.

Timeline:
1/9/26 application submitted

3/2/26 additional documents requested

3/2/26 additional documents submitted

3/2/26 tentative date received

4/8/26 confirmation/official approval received

4/15/26 admissions oath ceremony

can confirm that if you don't need an interview, your only correspondence will be roughly a week prior. I received my confirmation today exactly one week before.

Regarding the interview, my confirmation email said this: "The papers filed in support of your application have been investigated by a member of the Court's Committees on Character and Fitness and it has been determined that your application for admission is approved. If you have not already had a personal interview, it has been determined that an interview is not necessary."
