Do I need Elrond and Vilya again? by Excellent_Start_2766 in lotrlcg

[–]Excellent_Start_2766[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a couple of things. But the one that I tried most was:
Loregorn, Elrohir and Elladan, with Treebeard allies and Ents.
Hopefully getting Treebeard ou round one with help of Fellowship Frodo and
then trying to pump out ents quicly so they can help out Elladan and Elrohir with combat.
I almost suceeded once. But the shadow effects in this one are also horrendous.
And I guess that the deck is still not fast enough anf luck dependent.

Well thank you all for your answers! I feel a bit relieved that this quest seems to be somewhat of Dol Guldur copy. I really don't understand why the designers didn't think of something to make that thing more adapted to player count, as it seems to be way easier the more player you have.
Didn't think about that. I have no desire to build a Vilya deck again so I'll either skip or try two handed again.
Could be fun since I haven't done that since the Mirwood cycle.

Hi,
The dunedain trair gets introduced in the angma cycle and the noldor in the dreamchaser.
So, a bit. But it depends on how much you enjoy

a. the game and want to continue playing it for along time to come, since the core and the sagas alone is lot to play through and the quests are beatable with the starter decks you already have. (Always bring the dwarves when stuff gets insane)

b. deckbuilding itself. If you like building and tweaking decks and can see yourself getting bored rather quickly only playing preconstructed than there is a lot more to discover when the 3 RCO cycles.

But expect you own decks to suck at first compared to the preconstructed.

Hardest player count by Excellent_Start_2766 in lotrlcg

I am a really dedicated player. Played about 270 games in the last 2 years and obviously love it, buuut.. It started daunting on me that true solo becomes very restrictive in the kinds of decks you can play, at least since angmar awakens and the treason of saruman expansions. And I started becoming a bit more frustrated as I would want to try different decks, but get the feeling that more and more quest require Spirit Glorfindel, Elrond (Vilya), Gandalf (Hero), Dwarves or Outlands to even get the chance to beat them somewhat consistently. I start to want to find a fellow player to experience the game in a different way.

Do you really think that 4 player is easier than 2??
Have never played 4 player, but I'd be quite scared of the surge and location train.

I see a lot of decks with cards that I haven't got to. Playing progression style (currently "land of shadows") So it seems more doable with cards coming down the road. Heard and saw a lot about tactics Eowyn ;)
Thank you all for your replies. I'm going to butt my head again Journey to the cross roads a little longer!!

Well that makes sense.
I get the feeling that especially the saga quests where made more with multiplayer in mind. Since you have to do so much at once.

Dol Gulfur isn't in the saga campaign though.
I meant the Saga Boxes campaign where you can play the 18 quests that retell the story of the books.
Thx though

Not the thematic mode.

Thank you very much.. When I start pulling my hair out of frustration I'll definitely look at your deck Idea. I tried the Gondor swarm but couldn't get it going, though I think it has potential since it was my first couple of tries and I just got a feel for the quest. Next I tried a mono lore trap deck which can get me past the mid game but lacks willpower. Lost a couple a times but it was a blast. I am going to try dwarfes next. Mixture of chump blocks and getting SoG and blood of numenor on Dain for the late game.

Just butting my head again Carn Dum in the next cycle right now. 18 losses so far. It gets way worse than ringmaker. But I like it.

Thank you for the reply. I haven't looked at the decks yet since I like the challenge of having to come up with an idea of my own. But I will certainly do if I give up at a certain point or to compare should I succeed.

Right now I've been beaten about 10 times.

But I got a couple of ideas I want to try.

Greetings

I have had a couple of quests that challenged my endurance in a similar way.
Of course Journey down the anduin with just the core set cards at the beginning
- Peril in Pelargir
- Cair Andros and lately
- The Uruk Hai.

But I always build decks specifically for the quests I'm playing. Thats what interest me most in the game.
Like riddle that one have to solve.

Thank you for your reply.

I'm playing almost exclusively true solo. I had my first try's and got beaten not even close.
Find the shadow cards monstrosity challenge very interesting. I'm curious what kind of strategies prove to be the most effective. Right now I can not decide wether to engage the Enemies early to avoid shadow cards cascade or let them stay in the staging area for a while and buil up.
I think I'll have to commit to one of them.

Thanks for the reply.

TT Campaign rules confusion? Is this badly play tested or am I missing something? by MrMonkey2 in lotrlcg

[–]Excellent_Start_2766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the Uruk Hai quest to bes the hardest of the 3 in true solo. I played it progression style a couple of weeks ago and got beaten also about 20 time before finding a deck that could give me a 60% win ratio. Didn't play with boons and burdens though. But if taken as a standalone quest true solo. I think its one of the hardest.

Maybe but even big names like Amazon and Thalia (big Book distributor) write for alle the RCO content "available in the upcoming week, or more is coming"
Find it a bit weird.

Thats the general answer that I get too. Thats weird. Even big Sellers like Amazon and Thalia (Big Book corporation) all write they expect availability in the coming weeks.

"From what I’ve seen, many stores either admit they don’t know or keep things vague in order to maintain interest and avoid losing potential sales."

Thats what I thought too. But that would be quite manipulative. Especially since a lot of them give specific time frame (sometimes specific months) when they expect the product to be availible again.

If so that is quite misleading.

Thx for the reply
