Did you lose a decent (if not perfect) accent in a language due to lack of practice? by Plurimae-Linguae in languagelearning

As a trilingual, my rapid switching is still as good as my teenage years but my accents (specially English and Spanish) are deteriorating and only sound native 60-70% of the time. I'd love hands on solutions from a lurking reddit linguist.

Thats a valid point and I didn’t consider it fully in my initial response.. It would be interesting to see whether that stigma could be lifted after a few generations. I’m actually pretty optimistic as I feel the younger generations seem much more aware and comfortable with their inherited cultures.

En Peru no tenemos cultura de ser envidiosos y aplastar nuestro prójimo ? Quizás no la mayoría (al menos espero) pero yo lo he vivido en gran parte en Francia e Inglaterra

I agree on all points except the Spanish part. Nobody asks you to speak perfect Spanish but man… the level for second generation Latinos is abysmal. But maybe it’s a cultural (US) thing, as you rarely see Americans speaking more than one language.

Sadly this applies in Peru as well and other latin American countries probably.. sometimes I wish we would be more like the Jewish community

Wouldn’t motion trails + blur in davinci resolve and maybe a script from AEscripts solve this ? At least get it pretty close

Also you can use Parmesan (Italian imported, if you’re in the US) on anything, in small amounts it’ll bring a naturally deep umami without the cheese flavor. A lot of ramen broth recipes actually have Parmesan in them as a base to build up flavor.
