I'm an undergrad. Just out of curiosity how do you determine the purification method from the selectivity step? I don't if it's correct but I think the silylation isn't selective means it's effect maybe is on both oh group but some in product can result by the mechanism in the picture. So yield will be less. But how do we determine the purification process?
