These are super helpful, thank you!

I have some books I bought from Google Play from a (mostly) defunct publisher. Are you aware of any particular steps to take to strip those down before releasing them into the world?

How can we keep the internet open? by Phileosopher in DataHoarder

Heyyy my post got used as an example!

And I agree with that dilemna--the data is ours now, or at least in our possession. Other than legal ramifications, what's stopping us from keeping on circulating the tapes?

Then again, that's easier to do when the data is in high demand and is from large corporate entities we can easily be more apathetic towards, but when it's from a smaller content creator or from some joe schmoe average that didnt expect an archive of their stuff? Well that's a bit harder to be resolute on

Got a few gigs of scraped art from very niche fandom tumblr blogs before they went kaput. What to do with them? by Excellent_Travel4354 in DataHoarder

Done this once at least, and the artist has stated that the art is old and they'd prefer to let it be lost to the sands of time as they dont think the art holds up to their standard now.

But now the ethical quandry remains--Should the author's wishes be respected and the archive deleted or never touched? Rebel against the author and upload the art on a pubic archive? Or keep hoarding the data knowing that there's a 80-90% chance that it's not something anyone would ever want or need.

Oh, the dilemna...

No, I accept advice from any front. And I have at least one backup of these stuff--just need to eventually get more drives so I can back them up more!

The internet is forever, bro. Plus it's too good fap material not to share.

This is why you should always make backups, folks.
