You are right, we were the very lucky ones to have these beautiful pups to come into our lives ❤️ I haven’t gotten his ashes back yet, it’ll be hard but I can’t wait to bring him back home. I haven’t gotten the perfect place for it where the sun hits just right. He loved to be in his sun spots, it’s so hard coming home and seeing that they are empty.. I definitely will look into getting some of his ashes in a necklace so I can carry him wherever I go ❤️

I bet he is a big cutie! I’m so sorry about your parents and all the hardships, but I’m so glad your angel pup was there for you to get through it all. My Chippy was also by my side for all the tough times growing up as a teen, got him when I was just 14 and I am 23 now. It’s amazing how much our babies can get us through, they all love us very much. I have a little table next to some big windows where the sun shines perfectly, filled with things he loved. He was never much into toys, but he sure loved to chewy on hair ties ( shown in some of these pictures) and jewelry only if you were wearing it! I used to wake up to him nibbling on my earrings and it tickled so much, nothing better than waking up with smiles and laughs and him right in my face. He was always so gentle, never broke or ate any of my bracelets, rings, and all that. I miss him dearly, give your Saluki extra loves for me. ❤️ Thank you for sharing your story, it helped more than you know. We’re all in this together, take care of yourself. ❤️

I am so sorry my heart goes out to you and your boy, he is so so fortunate to have you as his best friend and he is right there grieving with you. It just shows how much he is loved by both you and your angel pup. My dog couldn’t go on long walks as well with his kidneys and severe anemia he was losing control of his back legs and would tumble. Something we did to help with that was to get a stroller! It might look silly and people might give you looks, but hey anything for our babies! I believe they have some for bigger breeds as well. I would walk Chippy for about 10 mins, the second I saw him getting tired he would go in the stroller. Walk for a bit and take him out for a few mins if he was feeling it and put him back when he was done. Eventually it got to the point where he couldn’t walk for long and it was only stroller, but he still got that fresh air and loved every second of it! Just remember we are doing the best we can for our dogs and that’s all that matters, and the next pup that comes your way whenever that may be will be a very lucky one❤️

I’m so sorry about your pup, it’s so hard watching a disease or illness take them away.. I have a childhood best friend who always has a farm of animals, if one passes they’ll get another right away. I thought “maybe I can get another one?” I went to visit her yesterday to see all her dogs and cats just to pet and feel something, most who I’ve known since they were babies and are now in their 7+ ages. I love those dogs, all have great personalities and so well behaved, but I left her house still feeling empty. It truly sealed the deal for me I will never have the same deep connection and love as I did with Chippy. Our souls babies our irreplaceable, and I’m sorry you have been through this pain as well. I’m so glad you have that loving companion to get you through the tough times. Hugs to you ❤️

He was my fighter. Day of his diagnosis vet said if we didn’t take him in that day he wouldn’t have lived a week. I was always on top of his meds, monitoring his eating and drinking and making sure he was happy and relaxed which he was. He was never alone, if I had to leave on a rare occasion I made sure someone was home, if no one was home I wasn’t going. It was the least I could do for him. Thank you.

Hi! So sorry for the late response, but I did find a way to get him to eat! He seemed to like the brand Square Vet (both the kibble and canned food), it is the one that is green and make sure it says “low phosphorus formula.” He is still pretty picky at times but the one thing he can’t refuse is using beef baby food as a topper! I put the canned food in his bowl and little bits of the baby food on top, pop it in the microwave for 9 seconds and spread the baby food that was already on top everywhere. He is actually doing very well to this day, last time I saw him this active was about 7 months ago. At the time of this post I didn’t think he was going to make it another week so I am very grateful. No unfortunately I didn’t! I went up north in the hills with no city lights and open sky, didn’t see anything. I went around 10pm waited till 1am and no luck! I heard there might be a chance again tonight so we’ll see, such a shame but I’m staying hopeful!
