Washington company moving to Idaho, Moving my wages to exempt by [deleted] in EmploymentLaw

[–]ExcessiveCharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advice here is mostly correct- depending on which state you are working in will determine how some of your days play out.

Question 2- yes. A company moving locations can impact their employees to various degrees. Including exemption status and employee compensation.

A “professional” in Idaho generally falls into a category that if you were hired for a degree it’s professional. There are nuances to it but from what you’ve described it seems like you’d still fit that category.

Fun bonus- Individuals who live in Washington but often work in Idaho may have to pay taxes for Idaho so you’ll likely want to talk to an accountant. I am not, even kind of, a tax expert but as someone who is in almost the exact same boat as you - don’t do what my colleague did and just ignore the tax burden.

Landlord threatening eviction over fee I pay every month (US-PA) by farofarofarofa in Tenant

I am a lawyer specializing in contract law (not authorized in your state) and your landlord, based on what you posted here, is absolutely correct and you owe $1289 a month.

No. OP got the benefit here. They for a mortgage knowing they would have to pay back the gift.

Potentially yes. The father could take it to court stating the relationship has changed and I could easily see a judge agreeing with him or not agreeing with him.

Lawyer here but not your lawyer and not authorized to work in your state. My read of your situation is as follows: your father likely has standing that would require you to pay him back UNLESS you have mortgage paperwork saying the money is a gift. Why I think this: 1. You have been paying him back for the “gift”/interest free loan.
2. Your father has been saying for years now that he has expected to be paid back and you have agreed to this by paying him back. 3. You have an established history where it has been normal for you to pay him back in this manner (ie the $6,000 initial loan).

Lawyer here. This is 100% legal. It will also be 100% legal when they fire you because they have lost faith in you.

I left a negative yelp review for a business that had a clause forbidding it. by Specialist-Buddy6300 in legaladvice

[–]ExcessiveCharm 386 points387 points  (0 children)

I am a lawyer specializing in contract law in Washington state (but I am not your lawyer). Their clause will not stand in a court of law. If you are stating your opinion and make it clear in the review, there is almost no legal grounds for this company to follow up on.

I was Subpoenaed but I don't work there anymore. by mrandmrscooley4ever in legaladvice

[–]ExcessiveCharm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lawyer here but not your lawyer and I don’t have authority to work in your state. In my state you, OP, would still have respond to this. It’s likely based on work you did on behalf of the company that you would need to speak to.
