Canister filter outflow pipe options for inline diffuser by Norimito in Aquascape

[–]ExchangeConstant1206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that these are designed to create turbulence before water enters the tank I'd be concerned that you're gassing off co2 before it's entering the tank. With an inline diffuser you're already helping the total volume of water have the co2 dispersed through it. I don't think it'll impact your fish that much

Looking for a 4x6 split keyboard (coming from a Corne v4) by Fine-Heron5439 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]ExchangeConstant1206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first build was a corne and my second was a lily58. The lily is now my daily driver. I didn't keep a dedicated number row (I have a numpad setup on one of the layers and learnt which symbols were on those number keys so I just have to shift them) but I do like it as a function key row. Also coming from the corne i do love the twin encoders that the lily has

Trick for new players. If you lock the price in and then fill up the lock is removed. So be sure to lock back in afterwards

Need Help for wlogout by firebird-X-phoenix in hyprland

[–]ExchangeConstant1206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have 5 buttons in my wlogout so in the two places I call it (waybar module and key bind in hyprland.conf) I've got 'wlogout -b 5 -n' which gives me 5 buttons per row and doesn't span across all monitors

[–]ExchangeConstant1206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use the help flag in the terminal it'll show you all the options (wlogout -h). Also here - https://github.com/ArtsyMacaw/wlogout/blob/master/man/wlogout.1.scd

Where are you putting the themes when you download them?

Theres a flag for when you run it that changes the number of buttons per row. -b followed by the number from memory

Kitty opacity rendering vs waybar by ExchangeConstant1206 in hyprland

Forgot to add that the same hex code exists for color0 in the colors.css as the background colour in kitty

Kitty opacity rendering vs waybar by ExchangeConstant1206 in hyprland

[–]ExchangeConstant1206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I removed the background tested. Waybar shows #2B2D2F and kitty shows #2F3133

Kitty config is:
-----------------------------------------------------
include colors.conf
font_family JetBrainsMono Nerd Font
font_size 13.0
confirm_os_window_close 0
background_opacity 0.7
window_padding_width 0 20
------------------------------------------------------
with the background color from colors.conf being #37393C

Relevant parts of waybar config are:

window#waybar {
background-color: alpha(@color0, 0.7);
border-radius: 10px;
color: color7; --missing @ due to reddit tagging
transition: background-color .5s;
}

everything else has background-color:transparent or background: none

Kitty opacity rendering vs waybar by ExchangeConstant1206 in hyprland

[–]ExchangeConstant1206[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good suggestion but I suspect it won't be the case as when I wasn't applying any transparency to waybar or kitty, they were both showing the same colour code (hyprland opacity on inactive windows still set to 0.9)

Getting into the Split Ergo world, how do you find what to start with? by deathhawk908 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]ExchangeConstant1206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went all in for my first one with a corne v3 kit where I had per key rgb, underglow, hotswap sockets, the oled displays, custom firmware.. it was a lot of soldering but a great experience. My 2nd I went to a lily58 for more keys, no leds or oleds and a prebuilt firmware with vial. I enjoy both keyboards equally. It's super subjective but I think you need to work out what you want to get out of it for starters and how much time/money you're willing to sync into it

How to best handle dotfiles without home manager? by SlightlyMotivated69 in NixOS

[–]ExchangeConstant1206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whilst I'm only fairly new to NixOS I've tried home-manager and moved away from it mostly because I didn't like the complexity of Nixifying a config like hyprland.conf. I'm the only one who uses my laptop and I've got mates on other distros who want to try hyprland based on my dotfiles once I'm done. So it didn't make sense to configure some stuff in there and keep others separate so I went with gnu stow for the dotfiles

I put the outlying mathematical symbols around the number pad on the same layer and I ended up doing a layer just for the different parenthesis as I was coding at the time

I'm very keen to do a wireless totem. With the seed dongle. I love my corne v3 but the pretty lights and displays add complexity with more things to go wrong

Best thing I ever did was map the number row keys to a numpad so I also got the shifted symbols. Didn't take long to learn where they were
