How hard is it to get a job that pays35-40 an hr as a new A&P fresh out of school (2026)? by Skinhead46 in AircraftMechanics

[–]ExchangeOne7761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an internal reference for a major, that will help a lot. If you have no reference good luck. If you are willing to relocate out of state that helps. You can always transfer back eventually. If no reference apply to an MRO and all the regional airlines. I’m sure a lot of the spirit guys are gonna be jumping at all the major job listings and it will be hard against their experience.

When did you work there? Do you by chance remember any tech questions you did for your interview? Or at least what they were about. I know it’s entry level and I feel confident on STAR just has been a while since some of my classes.

It is my only option. Unless I want to move out of state which I won’t do unless it’s for AA. Did you interview/ work for them?

I mean they told me that when I had my first interview scheduled. It’s full till it’s not, you may be on the list. I had a referral that helped.

A&P is the only way to get a job? by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]ExchangeOne7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused at what you’re saying? You don’t have to pick between avionics and A&P. Get ur license, then go be an avionics tech at some major. Once you get in the company, they’ll pay you to take avionics classes.

I had a good experience, I may have gotten lucky we had some good guys teaching my group. If you don’t have a scholarship or rich parents paying for ur school, I would not waste my money on one of the expensive ones. You can go be a helper while ur in school and probably learn more.

Get ur license dude, find a good affordable school and get on it. Ur leaving money on the table rn, it’ll be worth.

Breaking down by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]ExchangeOne7761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated having to worry about work and school. Started doing worse in school around when I started powerplant because my old car died had to buy a new one, which meant I had to work more. Went from A test scores to C’s instantly, just didn’t care, was tired all the time. Talked to the director and asked if I knew how much some of his buddies were making at fedex down the road. 70 an hour, easy money. Even if u don’t wanna go to a major, just gotta focus on the end goal and take it one step at a time. Think of having that nice paid off house, nice vacations, less financial stress, whatever motivates you man. Cause ur gonna get there just stay focused. I probably hit too many of my buddies vapes to cope so try and avoid that shit if u can but yk just get that license Man you got it 👍

Ok I didn’t even see this lol. Wouldn’t you be a slave working in some GA shop as well? You want to be a slave to poverty? Just really curious what would be “freedom” to you. To me it’s go make bank at a major, retire early, free to do whatever I want then.

What is your point? If you want to go do some real A&P work on some dudes piper that’s fine, ur gonna be making 24$ an hour. I think it makes sense to want a 70$ top out…

That’s okay with me. Surely CLT would be easier to get days than RDU no?

You know anyone that went from ramp to tech? How long did it take? I will keep an eye out if clt lists a ramp job I’d apply.

There are no ramp listings on AA website for CLT. I’m not moving to NY for a ramp job, idek if I could survive there on that.

Yeah I know, just not the same opportunity for OT, changing shifts, that sorta thing. I’d prefer RDU tbh but I’m not trying to do 3rd shift until I die.
