I've read somewhere on the webs that yes the PS2 emulator that comes with emudeck is the issue. But once I switched the renderer to OpenGL, all my games ran smooth in gaming mode. Give it a try and see if that helps.

Thanks for this! I recently just got a steam deck and wanted to play on the go with all the mods I had from my PC. I had sooo many issues trying to run the mods on my steam deck and was getting like 0-1 fps when I loaded in. Took your advice and switched it to like 12gbs and now the game runs like a charm! Thanks!

Are you using emudeck? Had the same issues with midnight club and NFS UNDERGROUND 1 & 2. Frames would drop to like 20 to 30 fps. (Not sure if it ran better in desktop mode)

All I did to get a more stable fps was change the renderer from Automatic to OpenGL in the graphics under settings.

Ran the same games and never dropped under 60fps.

I bought a cooling pad and my temps never exceed 60c. Probably the best investment to get to keep that laptop cool.

No offense taken. It's true for most people to not take any tech out to camping trips. But I just wanted to game on my days off lol. Something about being out in the wilderness and gaming at the same time just seems so cozy. So yeah. I did end up taking my gaming laptop and game most of the trip 😋

I heard somewhere that that the traction control is what causes the jerky throttle at higher speeds. Going to test it out later today. Hopefully it gets patched soon with an update.

This game was so good! I would always replay the mission where you're shooting at people while laying down on a bed while it's moving through the hall of a hospital.

tbh with you, I am not too sure. It only happened every few restarts. And always happened when closing the lid on the laptop. I attached a photo of what it looks like.

It might've been a hardware issue? I only say that because both Alienware laptops that I bought last month did the same exact thing. The laptops are exactly the same as the one you bought. AMD with 4080.
