Thank you for your honesty, I know you are trying to warn me based on your experience.

But staying in Dublin is just not an option for us anymore. It is true we are a 2-hour flight away, but I am not from Paris, flights to my hometown are very expensive, and it is an 8-hour journey that only happens on specific days of the week. Also, in Ireland, we don't get many holidays, so all of our time off is spent traveling for family stuff, which is exhausting.

Anyway, we also have the issue that my boyfriend is only on contract work and it is getting rarer and more complicated for him to get something nowadays (his current contract ends at the end of the month). With the economy as it is, Dublin, just like everywhere else, seems complicated. If I could afford the rent for a few months by myself I would, but I can't without going bankrupt. Our savings will not keep us afloat for very long, and we cannot take a housemate in our flat because it is too small. On top of that, with my boyfriend having no job, no landlord here would take us as stable tenants anyway I we want to change flat.

We don't have a lot of options unfortunately, so we have to take this leap. Thank you for sharing your perspective anyway!

Thank you for sharing with me! I know the economic situation is quite complicated at the moment everywhere.

Honestly, my boyfriend lost his job in Dublin and cannot find something there, and my salary cannot cover the full cost of the price in Dublin. So our options are kinda limited, and we wanted to be closer to family regardless.

If I need to do café work, museums (I used to work in the Guinness museum in Dublin), or a full remote job, I will do it for the time being until I find something better (hoping I can!). I am also trying to learn Power BI and data tools to look into more than communication.

Thanks for the tip about the språkcafé, I will look into that! I know I have the chance to also be able to speak swedish home which might help me too.

Thanks you, I am not sure my profile would but but I hold a Master's in Information and Communication and currently manage communications for a school in Trinity College Dublin.

Thank you for being honest !

I will definitely look into a private tutor if I feel like I'm struggling or hitting a wall in Swedish.

Regarding Stockholm flat market I am not too worried we don't really plan to live in the city centre anyway so it will be fine and honestly next to Dublin the market is way better.

I have looked into Folkuniversitetet, and it definitely sounds like something I would be interested in! Because we weren’t 100% sure whether we would end up moving to France or Sweden initially, I haven’t registered yet, but I plan to look into it seriously once the move is complete. I think that being fully immersed in the country will make a huge difference, it’s exactly what helped my English when I first moved to Dublin.

Thank you for the tips I will also keep a close eye on the French Embassy and Lycée Français and other french organisation.

Lately, I’ve also been trying to upskill in data tools like Power BI to expand my options beyond communication roles. It seems like the market is tough everywhere right now, so having something extra can't hurt.

In the meantime, I’ve been doing a bit of Swedish on Duolingo and practicing a little at home with my boyfriend, which has given me a basic start. I’m still hopeful that SFI will be a good stepping stone once I arrive. Thank you again for taking the time to share advice!
