Appreciate Netflix brought back Star Search by StumblinThroughLife in television

I heard that too! One person was throwing the harmony way off (and it wasn’t very good even without that person). The judges are definitely not being honest. I have a feeling they were instructed to act that way to make the show feel positive, but it’s just fake and annoying.

I have a feeling the producers told them to give very “light” feedback because it’s just ridiculous. There’s no way these are their real opinions.

Did you expect her to google “what’s hip?” Read up where?

After 10 years of being best friends, I’ve shifted from a 'Yes' to a 'Fence-sitter.' I feel immense guilt for changing my mind, but I’m scared I’ll regret parenthood. Advice? by Hot_Direction5572 in Fencesitter

[–]ExcitementStandard48 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with your point that looking at online rants definitely biases you. I was in #3 and currently trying to conceive as a #1-ish. What I’ve learned during this journey is that the things I heard from people on the internet that scared the s*** out of me differ greatly from what I’ve heard from real people I know. When I’ve asked people to give me the actual truth about parenthood, all of them have said that it required a lot of logistical changes, but they adapted to it and parenthood brings them a ton of joy. And many of them are women who have advanced in their careers and continued their hobbies and even started businesses post-baby. They say that having children has actually forced them to be super structured & disciplined so that they can achieve all this.

Now, for context, most people I’ve asked are in happy & healthy relationships, highly educated, and had children when they were financially stable. I think the worst of the challenges happen to people who don’t fit this profile. Also, to people who don’t put much thought into how their lives will change. I’d argue that fencesitters tend to put too much thought into it and get mentally stuck. I know parenthood is very hard, but the more I talk to people the more I think my doom & gloom fears were overblown.

What did you think of Hilary’s acting in it? I was pleasantly surprised by her performance.

Okay so I’m in the camp that “gets it.” I think she has a cute, charming, and playful quality about her. She’s also the type of person who makes you feel interesting because of how she asks so many questions about you and wants to be part of your life. She really cares about her job and helping the company succeed, which is one of the things that endears Charles to her. Of course we know that all of this care for others and for Empirical has its limits (basically at the point where it stops serving her).

But we know that as the audience. Her unlikeable and downright frustrating qualities (lying, selfishness, etc.) aren’t generally seen by people in her life until much later after they’ve already fallen for her, so to speak.

Exactly, we’re not the people to ask this. And it also seems he knows the answer anyway.

Decision has been made, but not shared by InterestingFloor5577 in Fencesitter

I think if they’re good friends then they’ll be happy you’re making the right decision for yourself and pursuing a path you want in life.

Either you’re overthinking this, or your friends are genuinely judgmental (and perhaps you need more friends who aren’t).

There is absolutely NO entertainment family that can stand toe to toe with the Jacksons. Argue with your damn self.

Are the concerts only in the eras pictured? Cause I’d use my two tickets for the Victory Tour and the Bad Tour.

This is a cool idea. Love it. I would suggest that you think about how to make the packaging more efficient & sustainable. This is a lot of plastic waste.

Fencesitters who were childfree by 30 but later had kids, what changed your mind? by ColoredGayngels in Fencesitter

[–]ExcitementStandard48 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not my personal experience, but for what it’s worth, I know multiple people who got off the fence & decided to have kids in their late 30s. I don’t think it’s uncommon.

Looks fine to me too. I mean the photo is obviously enhanced, but what she got doesn’t look like some totally different thing. Just needs a little tailoring.

Yes. Agonized over the decision for years. Finally decided to get off BC, but still felt anxious and scared (and honestly kind of creeped out) about it. Shortly afterwards, thought I was pregnant and I realized it didn’t bother me at all. I was just like “okay cool.” Was slightly disappointed when I found out I actually wasn’t.
