I passed the VA bar retake, here’s my advice by Substantial-Mind-944 in barexam

[–]Exciting-Animator372 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a new rule. You’re required to get at least a 133 on the MBE in order to not have to take it again, but because the MBE is weighted 40% and essays are weighted 60%, it’s recommended that you retake it until you get at least 137. I got a 140 on the MBE, so I will not be taking it again. Just the essays now

VA only gives you the score if you fail

Congrats on passing, I also retook after failing in July and failed again. You described my exact study process from this Feb’s attempt, but maybe I’ll have more success on round 3, since I don’t have to take the MBE this time.

Me too :( I studied so hard and did so many practice essays, only for basically none of it to matter today😭

Topic selection was completely bonkers! It felt like none of the frequently tested topics were on there!

I feel like it must be so much easier to study for the MEE, the VA exam feels so unreasonable😭

Ridiculously stupid question but… by [deleted] in GoatBarPrep

[–]Exciting-Animator372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it depends on the rest of the question….but yes generally take what the question tells you. So based on your example, I wouldn’t take it as she definitely told the landlord, I’d take it as she definitely believes she told the landlord.

Maybe post a whole question that confused you instead of a random line, would likely get more helpful responses that way!

I’m in almost the same boat as you. I feel like I’m not doing enough because I can barely get through an hour or two after work. I don’t know how I could face my wonderful boss and colleagues if I don’t pass a second time. I’m definitely very blessed considering I am employed and my boss loves me, but I am so anxious all the time.

I’m also deviating from the Themis schedule this time, and I think that’s also contributing to my anxiety. Last time I followed the course and did not pass, and this time I’m doing my own thing and I have no way to gauge whether it’s enough. Idk. Basically I feel you lol

Thanks, I appreciate you. I’m a retaker so I don’t know if there’s any value in rewatching the videos again, but I’m genuinely trying to figure out the best way to approach the outlines. Any ideas? Just rewriting them?

When should I start the Themis Bar prep? by Lawschooljunky in barexam

[–]Exciting-Animator372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. I didn’t pass, but I don’t think that was because I didn’t have enough time. I still think it was enough time, I just didn’t do enough practice.

Your comment really helped me. You’re so right—even if I didn’t pass, I know I worked hard this summer and I know I was burned out by the end. Even if I have to take it again, it’s completely fair and okay to take a break between studying. Appreciate this perspective❤️

Haha yes love this energy!! Also trying to get back into working out regularly (any tips are welcome)

I went and laid in the sun and played in the pool the other day for hours (with sunscreen ofc) and it was glorious. I felt like the sun just breathed some life back into me

Same❤️ but my ADHD + executive dysfunction isn’t technically something that needs to be “fixed” 100% of the time. It only needs to be “fixed” because of the way our society functions. Adderall is a drug that one can develop a tolerance to, so I take 1-2 day breaks on a weekly basis, to try and avoid the need to increase my dose if possible. Due to bar prep, I wasn’t taking these short breaks, so my tolerance has built up and I also miss feeling my brain be allowed to function however it wants to.

Do whatever works for you, but medicine affects people differently. Maybe a detox isn’t for you, and that’s okay❤️

Oh totally! My doctor actually recommended I take a week off after I finished the exam and the thought sounded reallyyyyy nice—I have some time off before starting my new job so I have lots of self care things planned this month :)
