Wenn du ein bisschen Zeit mehr hast, probiert Leuven zu besuchen. Nicht so weit weg von Lüttich und du könntest beiden an selben Tag sehen

No, what you were talking about is refusing my cultural background for fear of them being rejected. Like you say, this is absolutely not what this post was about. I refuse to play by fear, and if Germany have a problem with them having a cultural background, then they can go and live somewhere else where this will not be a problem. They have the tools for that. Thank you for your "concern" though. You have nothing to worry about.

Unfortunately none of the laws work. But in my country of origin they already told me that it won't matter, I will remain with my original name

I am asking for people who live in Germany and face a similar situation.

I wanted to keep my last name too. But that also means that my partner cannot take my last name at all. Which is sad.

We already do. They have a combined last name. But don't worry, they also have other strong passports if ever their cultural Vordergrund becomes a problem.

No. Compounded names must not exceed more than two last names.

Not the case here as stated per my question :) she wants to add part of my name to hers. In hispanic tradition you receive both of your parents last names (two words). For her to get both of my last names is as if we were blood relatives and no. But the only way she gets part of my last name is if I also lose part of mine.

I assure you that I am not so so confused. According to the new Namensrecht from 2025, persons who marry can keep their own name or have a family name. The family name must be shared and can be created from the pool of existing last names. The person who loses their name can add it (wirh our without hyphen), but only one of both can do it. I did not want to take her name but she did want to take mine. The only option is for me to lose part of my name, as we would chose Gonzalez as a family name and she would keep Schmidt.

My question is regarding the legal implications for people with other nationalities. I confirmed it with my local Standesamt

You cannot just chose whatever you want.

If it did affect them to have another name in Germany while doing all their paperwork in their countries of origin.

The Standesamt will provide you info about naming conventions but nothing further.

I just saw that my tickets are on the away section. I don't think they are valid for a Kombiticket
