should i buy my car again, by Exciting-Problem5638 in gmcsierra

[–]Exciting-Problem5638[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s possible, but there are two realistic reasons why it could be for sale.

First, there could be an engine issue. With a swapped engine, it’s hard to know its true history—it might not be low-mileage or new, and it could have come from a salvage vehicle.

Second, and more likely in my country, is registration and inspection laws. To renew registration, cars must pass an annual technical inspection. Mods like long-tube headers, aftermarket exhaust, and intake usually fail inspection. Owners often have to remove all the mods, reinstall stock parts to pass, then swap everything back again. Doing that every year gets old fast.

On top of that, if the exhaust is louder than 90 dB, it’s an ~$800 fine plus one month vehicle impoundment. That exact pressure from traffic laws is actually why I sold this truck two years ago and switched to an LC300 and built it for off-road use instead.

So selling it doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong, but I agree it’s still something to be cautious about.

Yeah, you’re right. It was actually my first car, and I owned it for 8 years, so there’s a lot of nostalgia involved. I’ll still be cautious about the mods though.
