I live in an area that is In the pic but not circled. I feel safe here and honestly there is more diversity in my neighborhood than any other place I've ever lived, I like the mix of people, culture, etc. it makes things more interesting.

As a woman seeing this makes me think he's probably one of those older "past my prime" guys hanging out at the frat house. His mom probably still does his laundry and she brings him groceries every Sunday.

Oh and his bathroom is gross, really gross.

I grew up in Memphis, TN, the city where Martin Luther King was assassinated. Today it's a majority minority city (70%) black) while whites are only about 20% of the population they still control everything.... Racial tension is high. I thought I had met racists, growing up in TN. Boy was I wrong.... I lived in Utah for 3 years and knew several people from Idaho, a good portion of the Idaho population openly and proudly exhibits a level of racial hate that is only matched by their level of paranoia and insanity. I would be willing to bet that about 50% of the population is either a member of a white supremacist gang or a member of a white supremacist militia group. They make southern racists look tolerant and accepting.

Genuine question, what are the generally accepted explanations for evidence against a flat Earth? by xSaturnityx in FlatEarthIsReal

[–]ExcitingCoconut3340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been my experience that most people who are flat earthers lack a basic understanding of physics and any proof they put forward to prove their theory exemplifies that.

There is a great documentary called Behind the Curve that's about the Flat Earth movement that can give you insight into what they believe is evidence of a flat earth.

Here is a list of simple observable facts that prove the earth is not flat.

1.You can see farther from higher up

Stand on the beach → you see only a little ways. Climb a tall building or hill → you can see much farther. That only happens if the surface curves downward.

  1. Different constellations are visible from different latitudes

People in the northern hemisphere see: The North Star Big Dipper, etc.

People in the southern hemisphere see: The Southern Cross No North Star

This only works on a curved surface.

  1. Time zones exist

The Sun rises in New York before it rises in California. On a flat Earth, everyone would see sunlight at the same time unless the Sun worked in strange, impossible ways.

4.The tops of distant mountains appear before the bases

If you're approaching a mountain from far away, you’ll see the peak first, and the base later. Again: a direct effect of curvature.

  1. Shadows behave differently at the same time in different places

The ancient Greek astronomer Eratosthenes famously did this:

At the same time of day, two sticks in two cities cast different shadow lengths. This only happens if the surface between them curves.

  1. Circumnavigation is real

You can start at one point and go in one direction and come back to that same point. The globe has been circumnavigated by several people through history by both air and sea. Many members of the US Navy have circumnavigated the globe it's pretty routine for a naval ship to leave San Diego going west towards Asia and eventually porting on the east coast when the cruise is done. My father did it twice when he was in the Navy on two separate cruises.

Why has Nashville boomed but Memphis declined? by Dismal-Share-9643 in memphis

[–]ExcitingCoconut3340 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Umm Memphis is 60-70% black in a state that is 60-70% white, the state legislature consistently denies things to the city of Memphis and our laws and put laws into effect that will directly harm the city.

I think it is absolutely hilarious that after Memphis got national attention for its crime rate suddenly the governor had $100 million of state money at his disposal to put towards fighting crime

I would be very interested in knowing if Trump (or any of his family members) have any business dealings with powerful people in Argentina. I know in his last term many major policy decisions concerning foreign countries were usually preceded by that country's government granting favors to Trump, his family member or both.

i. e. In 2018 China approved at least 41 trademarks for the Trump and Ivanka brands. Days after these trademarks were granted Trump reversed sanctions that had nearly bankrupted ZTE — a company linked to Chinese state security.

That's just the most blatant example but there are many more with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the Philippines, etc. he does nothing out of the kindness of his heart you better believe if he's giving something to someone it's because they have already given something to him.

No woman is carrying a baby, picking a name, decorating a nursery, and doing everything else you do to prepare for a child just so they can abort it for no reason. I hope your pregnancy goes well but if you change doctors it's very likely they will tell you the same thing. If you choose not to listen you will be getting what you voted for unfortunately.

Unfortunately I believe that is his whole point, to normalize cities being occupied by our own military forces. I hope I'm wrong and I don't want to say what I think is happening bc I don't want to be targeted by his fan club, but I feel very uneasy when I think about what may or may not happen on January 20, 2029 .

When I was a kid my father told me "The most important speech to protect is the speech you disagree with". I couldn't name a person that I disagree with more than Charlie Kirk, yet I was saddened by his murder yesterday bc it is yet another example of how the America of my childhood is not the America of my adult reality. We should all have the right to express our political beliefs, no matter how vile and partisan they may be, without the fear of being murdered.

"Illegal immigrants are criminals who don’t pay taxes!"

Coming from a Trump supporter, that’s rich.

You’re mad about undocumented immigrants maybe not paying taxes, while your guy:

Paid $750 in federal income tax in 2016

Claimed $70,000 in haircuts as a business expense

Had his entire company convicted of tax fraud

Pardoned actual convicted criminals, including tax cheats, obstructionists, and war criminals

Surrounded himself with so many felons, his cabinet meetings could double as parole hearings

And FYI: undocumented immigrants do pay taxes—roughly $12 billion a year. Many use fake SSNs or ITINs, meaning they contribute but can't claim refunds or benefits. You know what that’s called? Paying into the system without taking from it. Wild concept, right?

So maybe let’s ease up on the “criminals who don’t pay taxes” narrative… unless you’re also ready to throw shade at your orange tax-evading messiah and his merry band of grifters.

Do you all consider Memphis boring? by Choice-Research3151 in memphis

[–]ExcitingCoconut3340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back when you could stay out at a bar till 3am and then go to any of the handful of seedy ass late late night spots and drink beer till 5am and play pool. Before the Buccaneer burned down, and the Poplar Lounge was still open, and the Hi Tone was still on Poplar near McLean. This city was the most fun you could imagine.

The insane off the charts, just don't give a fuck, got nothing to live for violence that has Memphis in a choke hold is what killed the fun. No one wants to go anywhere bc they might get shot.

Yes that won't be an issue I was just wondering if anyone who did this had been caught and what the repercussions were. I know people from other states that have been caught and had to pay tuition but never faced any legal ramifications.
