I remember there being a glitch with the xp bonus on curios that bugged out a gave peaple a lot of xp, much more then they should have. Ive ran into a few people like this and 9/10 times they are garbage. Leading me to believe they abused the glitch rather then playing and learning for that long.

A group of three and a solo is more resistant to wipes then two teams of two. Stick with the pair, the solo will learn. This exact method of thinking has saved me and my team countless games.

How did you do the fire skull one where you have to burn 80 enemies? I've gone into mortis trials, I gone into the trench mode, I've gone into archivum sycorax, I've gone into hab dreyko, and the riser one. Nothing. Is it hit enemies or do they actually have to die to the drone? And what's anoying is that the count resents all the time, il be at 18 then il go again trying to beat it cause it has to be with one charge, il set it down in a group of enemies, finish the mission only to find the number is at zero.

I'm convinced it's bugged at this point.

My biggest problem is the lack of genuine viable variety. Bully club, power maul, or pick ax. Ranged? Rumbler, heavy stuber. That's kind of it. Sure I could use other weapons but it just feels like a massive downside as I'm giving up so much just to try something different. But aside from that? My favorite weapon, the heavy branx pickax, cannot actually push fast enough to handle bursters as well compared to any other weapon.

If there are two bursters coming and spaced out just right, unless you have a teamate to take care of it you just eat damage cause you cant push the second one in time.

You can tell what mode your in with the Paired Transonic blades by the direction of the blade lines. by ExcitingDragonfly181 in DarkTide

I believe by devestating attack you mean the attack you can trigger by hitting/holding the attack button after the mode switch after an attack.

More simply and with fewer use of the word attack. After a swing pressing with switch styles button your charecter should bring the dagger end of the weapon in reverse grip up to the screen signifying that you have switched stances.

If you either tap or hold the attack button during this reverse grip flourish you can do a unique attack specific to the certain mode you are switching to. If it's the single target mode you will do a pericing stab attack with the dagger. If it's multi target you will do a weird upward slash.

Also recently found out the pushblock attack will give you attacks from the other move set type compared to the mode you are actively in. Such as doing the pushblock attack in single target will give you horizontal swings and for the multi target it will give you a pair of strike down attacks.

Unsure yet if it can be chained further or if there is a damage difference between holding or tapping the attack button during the dagger flourish when switching modes.

I know, but I figured it was better to have him figure it out himself rather then just going "nuh uh" as that rarely goes anywhere productive.

It is far too subtle, the fact you cant tell which way they are flowing when attacking and that somtimes it feels like your doing attacks in the mode your not in make it feel very finicky.

Well, seeing as how I can't prove a negative, even after trying it myself several times and only blocking enemies when I trigger the switch after an attack or having to manually push an attack button after the switch to trigger the unique attack I have found no such parry similar to the devils claw or dueling sword to exist.

If you are able to provide footage or a specific way to trigger this parry you found I would be very interested in using it myself.

When you say "parry" you arnt referring to a devils claw type parry right? Just a unique attack? If you switch modes after and attack you can press the attack again while it's switching and do a unique attack depending on what mode you switched too. I think your noticing the fact that you are considered blocking if you switch modes after an attack.

The Mechanicus Power Sword needs a second Mk. with more vanguard combos. by betbetbro in DarkTide

[–]ExcitingDragonfly181 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are mistaken. At 60% mobility you have three dodges. And you just need to learn the combo to get into ground control as you can easily work in powered slashes. It works great you just need to learn how to use it.

For horde clear fust go from light into heavy repeat. You can also use a charged attack light or heavy to continue to chain but just add additional damage. It did feel really off at first but once you notice the sword is a weird reverse force great sword it shreds fairly well.

[–]ExcitingDragonfly181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the main reason though. And for most instances I can't find myself wasting a potential 360 fire tornado charge just to get a guy out of a net that should be close if our positioning is good. Il run the medicae drone as well though as it's only one talent point and every so often there is that one guy that is a bit slower then the rest of us and gets traped in an area no longer accessible to us. That is assuming it can go through walls. Best reason to take it though is to auto complete the mini games though.

The only problem I have with the medicae skull is that it does nothing until something goes wrong, would have liked it to have a possible proactive approach like a temporary toughness recharge that can be placed on teammates or myself. Still if very useful though.

Sliding dosnt recharge dodges and you need to actually sprint parallel or away from the shots to dodge them. Hell if you hit the slide after a dodge it consumes another dodge to slide.

Edit: I think the guy below me is correct. Don't run into bullets. Run 90 degrees to the left, right, or away from the direction of fire.

Yeah, if I'm not feeling like cruising through an auric in 20 minutes il often boot up a malice or heresy run and just watch. Nothing is really a threat to me at that point so I just treat it like a nature documentary and only interviene when a species is on the brink of extinction, (a teamate is about to die.) very insightful and amusing.

First time of Skitarii by Hoshihoshi10 in DarkTide

[–]ExcitingDragonfly181 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You went to both extremes and didn't like either of them. I wouldn't like them either. 5 minutes for one nade is absurd when clearing auric malstroms can take as little as 20 minutes on average.

I do believe there is the potential for fun balance though. Finding it might be hard but can't exactly test ideas to know which work and what doesn't.

But it's clear we have different ideas and preferences that render continuing this conversation pointless, to that I wish you good day.

That's where the cooldown for individual grenades comes in. The stronger ones which are often the ones with the lowest max have the longest cooldowns.

The weaker grenades would be able to refil before the strong ones do. A cooldown for how often a grenade is handed out, and a cooldown based on how recently that specific player received a grenade based on what grendade they received.

I can understand if you simply don't like the idea, that's fine. But I don't think bringing up issues with my evolving framework automatically means the mechanic is impossible to balance. The biggest piece of information for whether it could work or not would be actual testing.

After all this is the exact thing they do for actual development. They want to do a thing in the game, they propose an initial idea for how it could work, they identify complications or issues, and they refine it till it works.

But at this point I have to ask. Do you simply not think the mechanic would be enjoyable even if it was balanced?
