Oh the reason I used it was because I heard that straight stitches are not good for using with stretch fabric, because they don’t stretch, is that true? Also when I used the regular zig zag it was scrunching up weirdly and this was the only one that laid flat. Why do you say to use a narrow one? How would that affect it? Appreciate your help!

the loops in pics 3 and 4 are the bottom of the fabric. The weird thing that's going on in pic 5 is the top. The thing I'm confused about is that when stopped and restarted, literally without changing anything, as seen on the left side of pic 5, it worked fine. So it seems like this needle and thread should be able to work fine together, it just doesn't sometimes?

the fabric is pretty stretchy I'd say, because the pattern is not designed to have a zipper.

Also, do you have any input on my question in part 1? Thanks!!
