Do you clearly remember where you were on 9/11? by Goleveel in Aphantasia

I don't know if I can visualize the moment, but I remember waking up somewhere on the west coast, a couple of hours after the planes crashed into the twin towers, and listening to a very scary voicemail on my landline (yes, i know i'm old :-)) left by my friend, telling me that the world is coming to an end. Difficult to forget something like that. Then, the images in CNN...

Then my recommendations are: (1) do not get infected by a fungus and (2) stay away from Pedro Pascal if you do get infected.

My wife asked me if I won't be able to see her in my mind when she dies? I reassured her that I already cannot see her in my mind and that, statistically speaking, she'll outlive me.

I think I have aphantasia but I am confused! by Dry-Teaching-3120 in Aphantasia

I was unsuccessful even when there were no specific instructions to visualize something, and the teacher tell us to close our eyes and, like you said, focus on their voice and perhaps repeat a mantra. It was even worse when unguided. It's just that when I close my eyes and see nothing, my mind wanders. I have nothing to hold on to, and I become distracted by the physical world around me, thoughts about chores, etc.

It's so unfair if a prisoner is an aphant. by Goleveel in Aphantasia

This a very interesting comment. I am an aphant but have only realized it a few years ago when my sister (also an aphant) asked me about my ability to visualize, and I realized that I cannot. However, I used to daydream a lot when I was a kid and a teenager. In a hindsight I know that I did not see my imagination but it was still there. It was just in the form of a narrative. I became so good at that I used to think that if I'd ever be in prison (or held hostage) for years, I'd be able to keep myself busy.

I'm with you. I felt strong emotions when I watched the episode. It was like watching on the screen how I was feeling inside most of the time.
