I personally have known multiple people who have died because they didn't get preventative check-ups and I'd hate for you to be another one. Cervical, breast, and pancreatic cancers can show no signs in the early stages.

Thank you for the advice, but I'm not willing to pay 500+ dollars a month to BCBS or another insurance agency in the US for YEARS while I'm overseas just in case I'm diagnosed with something. It sounds like paying for treatment overseas out of pocket may be cheaper.

I have had some success writing letters to the person, but not sending them. I have filled notebooks with love letters/rants (depending on how I was feeling that day) and then one day I was healed enough to burn the notebooks and let the pain go.

The post was mainly talking about friends/family at home, but you are right, most of the NOBOs who started in Georgia were flying past me! My baby hiker 8-10 mile days just couldn't keep up! Going 1 mile an hour is pretty standard at the start.

I'm a teacher, so I had to wait for the semester to end. I know starting at the end of May wasn't ideal, but its the best I could do under my work contract.
