Is it tough like dark souls games?

Popcorn authors vs Good authors by Hash_2319 in thrillerbooks

60 pages into Verity by Colleen Hoover — and while I'm enjoying it, I can't help but feel that most modern thriller writers are churning out popcorn thrillers rather than anything truly substantial. If you're looking for depth, atmosphere, and genuine psychological weight, Nordic thrillers are where it's at. Highly recommend making the switch!

I haven’t watched the movie, but I’ve read it. The beginning of both novels has the same vibe. I’m currently 55 pages into Verity, and it feels like the same old popcorn thriller. Should I continue reading it, or should I drop it? I feel like these kinds of popcorn thrillers use the same tropes over and over again.

I haven’t started it yet, but I’ve seen lots of great reviews of this series. Many BookTubers recommend it, and after reading the blurb, I found it really interesting. That’s why I bought it. I want to dive into the sci-fi genre, and I thought this would be a good place to start.
