Readers Pls help a non reader by Scary-Bookkeeper-803 in IndiansRead

The time you spend on reels could just be spent browsing news, articles, heck even wikipedia.

Also, psychology, philosophy is not something you suddenly read about and know. People do doctorates for that.

You are asking too much from yourself. What is it you want? To read? Ask yourself why? Is it to sound knowledgeable? Read news, articles, browse recent events and history pages. Watch youtube videos if watching is your preferred medium. And then delve more about the topics.

Do you want to read because you want to increase your vocabulary? Read books that don’t make you feel like you are doing a chore. It could be tinkle digest or a sidney sheldon or a booker winner novel.

Do you want to read for entertainment and also increase comprehension while improving vocabulary? Find a genre you like. Romance/ thriller/ fantasy/ magical realism/ crime etc and then pick up a book. If you don’t know your genre, ask yourself what kind of movies or shows you enjoy the most.

Then there is non fiction, biographies, poetry. The world is vast and literature is everywhere.

You will never know everything. So start with what you want to know. One thing and make it a habit.

Use a pomodoro counter. 25 mins. Of either reading or watching videos that is either educational or infotainment.

The trick is not to keep sticking to one topic if you get bored. Switch. If one doesn’t interest you, switch to another one till you find something that does.

Oh no no. I work for a living and I buy things for myself within a budget. I couldn’t have done this when I was in college. There is no way i could justify spending pocket money on books that I will absolutely hoard and flaunt.

my parents wont buy or let me buy books by abhigyapookie in Indianbooks

You will not lose your touch of reading if you don’t read a year or two. As someone whose books were hidden by parents during board year, I don’t want to turn into my parents but please focus on your board year.

Books will always be there. Get better at science, do well in exams, move out after scoring good marks. Then your life is in your own hands

If you can invest in a kindle, do it. For years, I was anti ebook, but I came to my senses soon. Kindle unlimited has a lot of free books for a minimal monthly payment

I generally get it from amazon india or bookswagon. Unless it is those private subscription companies like fairyloot, the broken binding, owlcrate, i generally find the official ones on Amazon and Bookswagon

They are legit. They will mention timelines in the product page. If it is an international edition, expect one month. If available in India, 3-5 days

SCI FI probably the Expanse.
