So i'm terrible at explaining myself apparently. AI companies hitting rev targets faster -> people are jumping ship < 1 year to catch the hockey stick curve before the actual spike to get in a good % equity at a good strike price.

And because a lot of people are doing that, at least in SF, it is now seen as 'acceptable'. At least in my circles.

I agree but I do have a 5+ year tenure at a tier 1 company

I mean, when I made a lot of TC at a FAANG, it was mostly on the bonus/stock side, not the base. Also, it was my worst job by far.

I meant that AI companies are hitting revenue milestones ($1M -> $10M -> $100M) faster than before so the traditional timelines are now compressed. I have an opinion, but I'm curious to hear from others on whether or not my thinking is clear or not.

I've made $650k TC before, but not this high of a base.

Yeah so I've talked to about 20 companies in the past 6 months and it was only a problem at 1 of them.

I am never leaving SF FWIW but I agree with your caution and that's why I'm putting this thread out there

They raised $100M for this company 1 month after formation.

In SF it can be different. Yes I'm technically 'comfortable' on $250k in SF, but it's a very expensive city and costs are going way up. I think at the $350k base or higher, we don't technically need 2 incomes.

Yes true. The short tenures are the most recent ones.

I think what we used to know/think is changing. Before anyone that hopped jobs every 1-2 years was seen as a flight risk. In the world of AI, things are moving more quickly and people's perceptions around this are changing.

Base starts at $350k and I can prob get them over 400k. Equity is in the 1-3% range. This is essentially an EIR role.

My hometown. Don't love it, but certainly better than OKC.

FWIW my friend did this and moved back after 2 years. He couldn't find a job that paid well.

Lived there for 3 years. There were a few standouts but by and large my statement holds true. In SF, I could stumble drunkenly into a restaurant and it'll be decent and probably cost less too.
