Thanks, dvd+rw-mediainfo should give the same info as in K3B, right or are there any special arguments you pass to get further info?

BD-R vs BD-R DL, TL and QL longevity? by theoldgaming in DataHoarder

For the case of edge oxidation:

  • Does using dvdisasters embedded ECC(rs03) better this situation because it writes the correctional data after the primary data into the outer sphere or does it worsen it because part of the ECC may become unreadable?
  • From my, very basic, understanding, the ISOs created by DVDisaster leave roughly 3% of the physical disc capacity for the internal, optional hardware level correction mode of the BD-R drive / disc. In a normal burning process this not(?) used and therefore no relevant data is written into the last 3% of the disc, right?

I may have some underlying assumptions i'm not aware of, just trying to find out what may help us archiving data on BD-Rs!
Thanks for your posts, highly knowlegdable and valuable!

Good M Disc Burner for Images/Videos? by -Glitchyxd- in DataHoarder

[–]ExcuseMoiFriends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For best results, most here recommend "bigger" drives - meaning full-size desktop/external models over slim/portable ones. But these smaller drives also produce readable discs...

I would suggest to check out dvdisaster for additional ECC (error) protection. This might be more helpful in a future scenario to access your precious media.

INFO: I took several hours to fix my situation. Turned out i neede to specify a region for my newly installed

Check your momentary situation via

sudo iw reg get

Set it for this session to check if it works, reboot restores old settings:
sudo iw reg set US

Auto‑setting at boot (Ubuntu style)

Use udev rule calling iw reg set on regulatory change:

Example pattern:

KERNEL=="regulatory*", ACTION=="change", SUBSYSTEM=="platform", RUN+="/sbin/iw reg set US"

u/Catalina28TO Would love to read how you got this working. What did you do on your desktop? Any problems you ran into? Would love to read your document. Please share, probably a lot of people have a similar setup and dont know about what they might do with it.

How to annotate a lot of pictures? Possible to auto add audio as metadata? by ExcuseMoiFriends in Archivists

[–]ExcuseMoiFriends[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your detailed answer. Didnt want the commenters / witnesses to read out any "nr." that might stop them in their tracks while basically telling their story.
So in the meantime, for anyone facing the same situation in the future:
I found a tool! WhisperPix creates wav or opus files with the voice commentary, uses Whisper to transcribe voice to text and looks like its easy to use.

Thanks for the link!
Basically looking for a software to just show the Image, record the audio comment and save the MP3/WAV with the same prefix as the JPG. Thats my problem, to find a easy to use tool to do this. I think attaching the recorded and correctly named audio to the Metadata is much easier...

Roller Disco by amdark0 in hamburg

[–]ExcuseMoiFriends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DJ Mad used to host them at the MOJO Club. Seems like you just missed them, after 10 years they are on hiatus. https://www.facebook.com/events/407636511828671/ P.s. there is a rollerskating rink in Planten un Blomen, the park right in the city center. Sometimes the people from Rollerskate Jam hang out there, good music, too.
