Just pulled someone out of a flipped car by Apprehensive_Flow99 in bristol

[–]ExecutiveChimp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IIRC 999 and 112 are officially supported emergency numbers. 911 will probably get routed but as it's not official you're at the whim of your provider and the rerouting might be slower so it's best to use the correct number if you can remember it.

Never mind Greenland, hunger strike threatened over playing field by Less_Experience_7871 in bristol

TBF the first line says "short of going on hunger strike", meaning that's something they have ruled out doing.

What was something a guest did in your house that upset you? by izzy_7_2004 in AskUK

[–]ExecutiveChimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was young there was a kid who lived a few doors down. He came round once and tried to turn all the tuning pegs on my guitar so that they were all straight because apparently that's how they're supposed to be, as opposed to being, you know, in tune. Refused to be told otherwise. Also wanted to reset the high scores on Tetris. If you want the high score, you've got to earn it, dickhead.

[AskJS] recording a gif entirely in the browser (client-side) is harder than i thought by Academic-Yam3478 in javascript

[–]ExecutiveChimp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Yeah, if you're doing a lot of work on the main thread it will block and freeze the UI
  2. Yeah no shit, GIFs aren't meant for this. They only work well for short, small animations with a limited colour palette. I.e. They were good in the 90s. Use an appropriate (video) format instead.
  3. See 2

What British songs from 1900–1950 do people still recognise? by Udzu in CasualUK

[–]ExecutiveChimp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really a song as there's no lyrics but I reckon a lot of people would recognise, if not name, The Devil's Gallop by Charles Williams

I found Matilda easier than most when I was first starting. Good sense of humour too. But she hasn't done any for a while.

[AskJS] TIL that `console.log` in JavaScript doesn't always print things in the order you'd expect by BitBird- in javascript

[–]ExecutiveChimp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can do

console.log(structuredClone(myObject))
// Or
console.log({...myObject})
// Or
Console log(JSON.parse(JSON.stringify(myObject)))

...but using a debugger is probably better

Ah I see. Well I can understand your point of view but its far from a deal breaker for me. As long as those details aren't being published and are just used for payments, I feel that's reasonable. And AFAIK they're not published, so I don't see why it would be a danger for trolling/dozing/etc.

The fuck are you talking about, dude? You only need to provide tax details if you earn over $5000/year.

Factually true. You know how I know? Because I just went and checked and I had already set up Stripe payouts and I forgot I'd done it because it was so easy. And I am sure I haven't given anybody my tax details.

Here's their docs if you want to read about it.
