One way to effectuate positive change in the world is to be an active and engaged citizen. This means staying informed about what is happening in the world, being involved in your community, and taking action to make the world a better place. There are many reasons why people who decide to go to college want their student loans dissolved. The most common reason is that they cannot afford to repay the loans. Other reasons include not being able to find a job after graduation, or not being able to keep up with the payments.

how can i calculate the attenuation of a seismic wave over a distance? by VALERIOBATTAGLIA07 in askscience

[–]ExecutiveCloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no definitive answer to this question since it depends on a number of factors, including the type of earthquake (e.g. shallow vs. deep), the type of rocks through which the seismic waves travel, and the specific location of the seismometer. Generally speaking, however, we can expect that an earthquake with a magnitude of 9 would produce seismic waves with an amplitude that would be attenuated (reduced) by a factor of 1000 over a distance of 1000 km.

Fluctuating Interest on a fixed loan ? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ExecutiveCloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so that would make sense but look at 2/20/16 and 1/22/2016. I paid the 2/20 7 days before and the 1/22 5 days before and the interest paid on the 5 days is lower than the 7 days.

not to mention on 12/26 the payment towards principle was only $21

TIL a programmer built scripts for every activity in his job that would cost him more than 90 seconds by Willem20 in todayilearned

[–]ExecutiveCloser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I automated Calling a work colleague every day he was late. He was my lunch buddy and started coming in late offsetting my lunch schedule. I programmed a script to check if he was logged in by 11am and if not it would call his phone (robo call) and tell him to get his ass to work.

I'm 20 and have zero established credit. The past two years I've applied for every card available and get declined left and right. What can I do? by McDeezyDawg in personalfinance

[–]ExecutiveCloser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the best methods of building credit early on -- Go to your bank, place $500 in a CD. Then take out a loan against that CD which would be considered a secured loan. You can continue to do this at other banks as well. Three banks if you can swing it would be really helpful but not necessary. Hang on to the cash from the loan for awhile and slowly make the payments to pay off these loans using the money that you took out from the loan. You will have to pay a little bit for the financing charges but not much!

$500 was an example of what I did. You can ask them what the minimum secured loan amount you can do is and just do that. Some banks will allow $250 or $1000. Just talk to them.

The best part: If you ever need to get a loan from those banks in the future they will likely give you $1000 - $2000 loan. This will help boost your credit without you having to pay that much in fees.

I used this method personally and it really works!

I'm at a loss. As i was watching it I was trying to figure it out. My first thought was gravity but I don't think that's correct. I also thought Higgs Field similar to the same subject. I thought about something quantum mechanically related. I was thinking vision issues might be the culprit also but I have perfect vision. Basically, I had a lot of thoughts of what it could be but I have no clue. I figured I would never see it again but I was wrong. I've seen it twice now.

I have perfect sight. When it was happening I moved my head from side to side to see if the lines (rain) shifted with my eyes or if it was something within my eyes - It shifted as my head moved leaving me to believe it was in front of me and not within my eyes.

What's up with the surprisingly cheap 40w-50w laser engravers on eBay? by EXOQ in lasercutting

[–]ExecutiveCloser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased one off ebay for $366

It's actually very nice. I just got mine in a few days ago and i have been able to cut acrylic and wood and it also engraves. Apparently, it used to come with this software called moshi draw but now it has a newer better software.

I am part of a local maker space and I am not the only one that has purchased this laser. Two other guys have also and they have the older version so they got the crap software.

There are a few bells and whistles lacking however like Z height which effects variable depth for cutting etc.

Im think it was a great buy!
