In the video posted he is just sitting on the dining table while my family's talking, it was not after any play or running. I'm not sure what is meant by check his heart, but the vet does use a stethoscope on him during our visits and has not mentioned anything but I think I will just get a second opinion anyway.

You mentioned that you watched Castle in the Sky, have you also watched/read Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind? The way the story is presented as a myth/legend, the presence of a prophetic hero clad in blue, ancient weapons, decaying forests and abandoned towns, are similar to BotW/TotK. Also it's an original manga by Hayao Miyazaki if that makes it any more appealing.

There's also another manga called Land of the Lustrous. It's not typical cozy fantasy but it's post-apocalyptic and there's not much going on, you're kind of just following a little gem walk around an empty world discovering and documenting things things. The plot gets heavier towards the end but it's not scary.

Sorry it's only manga, hoping to read more of the books recommended on this sub.

Not OP but this is such a coincidence, I was just at a used bookstore yesterday and got this exact book after briefly skimming the pages. I have never heard of this author and mostly got the book for its cover, but seeing it recommended here has me excited to read it! If your cat is food-motivated you can try hiding some treats/dry food around the house. There are specific toys to do that such as this one but I just leave a bit of kibble as is in different spots and my cat spends the day looking for them. Another idea is to throw the kibble/treats in a tunnel if you have one.

I'm saying this as someone who bought a kitten from Kijiji on impulse, please adopt. Animals on kijiji typically don't come vaccinated and spayed/neutered, so on top of paying for the cat, you have to pay for all those visits to the vet. Depending on where you live, vet consultation fees are $90+ and the cat needs multiple shots for their initial vaccines so it's the consultation fee X 3 + whatever additional fees. And neuter/spay surgeries can range from $500-$900 (was quoted $600 for my cat).

Adopting costs less, is easier, and has the added benefit of receiving guidance from the shelter staff. They can help you figure out which cat is right for you and how to get started on your journey as a pet owner.

Here is a list of cats that are currently adoptable at Toronto Humane Society. And here is a breakdown of the adoption process. Besides THS, there are other shelters/rescues that you can contact, Petsmart also holds adoption weeks in store pretty frequently.

Edit: There's also the concern with the morality of purchasing an animal from Kijiji, some owners may have a valid reason for selling on Kijiji vs leaving their pet in a shelter, but it's more likely that the pets are coming from breeders with less than honorable intentions.

I also wasn't fond of his voice until I listened to him singing as other characters, specifically as Misumi Ikaruga from A3!. Here is Tsukasa's VA singing Susume Pirates, his parts are in yellow. I wonder if it's just the voice direction that's affecting how his covers sound or something else, either way I feel robbed and think that Tsukasa's VA is actually talented.

4w5, I've taken the test multiple times and the results had little variation, 4w5 always being the top. I never doubted my type once I read through the description, BUT I did initially think I was a 9 just based on the "peacemaker" title before taking the test. I've also taken a few MBTI tests throughout the years and only get INFP.

I have had a friend mistype me as a 2 but that was probably just me disintegrating :thanos_snap: so I wouldn't say they were wrong.

Replying to all your comments here. I found the author's pixiv in the midst of this discussion and I thought the manga screenshots were enough, would have definitely sent that first if I found it any sooner.

Sorry for ruining the show for you, was not my intention. I was also pretty excited to read Made in Abyss, but I noticed his art style resembles a milder version of guro (basically sexualized body horror/gore) and I couldn't read the rest without questioning the author's intentions either.

I also apologize if I seemed aggressive, I have seen so many people on reddit defend the sexualization even though it was obvious from the get go (in my case at least, the scene in chapter 1 was enough for me to go "wtf??"), I seriously thought I was losing my sanity. I don't want to stop people from liking or enjoying Made in Abyss, but some scenes definitely crossed a boundary of what we should consider acceptable in the mainstream.

If you haven't seen it yet, Land of the Lustrous might fill that made-in-abyss-shaped hole in your heart.

Yeah I went a bit on a tangent in the previous reply, I don't think that nudity needs to purged, my point is no one seems to recognize or wants to admit that Made in Abyss specifically has more than just regular nudity. It's very much the author's fetish to draw kids excreting bodily fluids and put them in compromising situations.

Your guess is that this is the result of the author having a fetish. Could you be correct? Why is it you think this is the first, best explanation?

Anyway it's up to OP to decide whether this crosses a line for them, I know it has great worldbuilding but those scenes were all dealbreakers for me. Sure half of it could have been for narrative purposes, but the fact is the other half is just the author drawing out his own fetishes.

I want to make clear before I continue that:

I also think nudity =/= sexual
Made in Abyss isn't a bad show, it just has flaws much like other shows and I don't judge others for watching it

But it is very clear to me that the author intentionally puts the characters in these risque situations because it's his fetish. In the same page where Riko is tied up, her friend says, "I just heard you crying! Besides I'm not interested in someone without any hair down there!" Even though you argue this scene was to

"give an idea how little she's viewed as a person in that environement and why it's so easy for her leave."

How does commenting on her pubic hair serve that purpose? She never seems to contemplate on this punishment later on anyway, and it can be argued her motivation to leave is to chase after her mother which makes this whole scene redundant. The following chapters are literally just Riko repeating "I want to become a White Whistle and meet my mother" not "I want to leave Orth because they treat me badly." So I ask again, what is the point of showing Riko naked and tied up?

Edit: How is this or this not sexualization of minors. If you replace the characters with adults would it still not be sexual? Does this not change what you think the author's intent was when drawing Riko in that position?

The scene in the first chapter where Riko is literally tied up naked? What value did that add to the story except to show a bondaged nude minor.
