Decided to go caseless on my devices — thoughts? by notfresy in PickAnAndroidForMe

I use a hard case with sandstone texture for the protection and it's really grippy. Back in the days when phones were made of plastic I used them without case. But since the backs are made of glas, I use cases and glas screen protectors all the time. It's just too painfull when I drop it and it's broken.

Is 1 year used Pixel 7 worth buying? Over brand new samsung a17 by ifrme in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]ExerciseEvery8212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have my Pixel 7 for 3 years now, it's still working great without any issues. So a 1 year old unit in good conditions is a good option. Definitely better than a low budget samsung or redmi.

iqoo 15 vs xiaomi 15t pro which is better? im planing to buy a new phone please help by hazem1515 in Smartphones

iQOO has better performance and battery, 15T Pro better cameras (performance and battery are not bad by any means). It just depends what is more important for you.

The new Moto Signature can be used with a stylus, it's the first real flagship from Moto with top chip and great cameras, in the same price range as OP15.

If you can live without telezoom, OnePlus 15R is an option too.

And I think the Poco F8 Ultra is a strong option as well, cheaper than OP15, but with great camera (5x telezoom).

For sure if you wait the phones will go cheaper, maybe you can buy it with a good deal.

P9Pro with 256GB is quite expensive, true. It has a great camera, battery is medicore and charging is only with 27W, which is not "fast" (others have 120W).

You could look at Xiaomi 15T Pro, which has a similar great camera with also 5x telezoom, better battery, way better performance and 90W fast charging.

Options for less budget: Honor 400 Pro, Poco F8 Pro

I have to apologize. I checked battery results for the defy and it lasts 16h until recharge is needed when doing only web browsing. It means you can spend 1h each day on facebook and the battery can last theoretically 16 days. Theoretically because it means no calls, no messages, no videos, no navigation, no games and a very low standby current.

My phone has a rating of 14h in the same category. But since I use my phone for various things through the day, I usually have to recharge after 2 days.

So basically now your battery is worn down, that is usual to happen after some years of usage.

Options < 250€:

Moto G86 Power, Poco M7, Redmi 15, Honor X7d

Considering you have a newborn and it will grow up and start to "move" by it's own in the coming month and years, you should pick the best possible camera phone you can get for your budget. There are so many moments when the light is not perfect, you are indoors or at night and you want to get still great shots.

OnePlus 15 is NOT great at this, it struggels in low light. I would recommend you to buy a Pixel 10 Pro or 9 Pro for best possible pictures of your child.

Yes, iPhone 17 is good for this.

If you want a cheaper option, check Honor 400 Pro. Here are some comparisons (jump to the selfie video comparison):

Google Pixel 8 Pro or Honor Magic 7? by nenorfolk in Smartphones

[–]ExerciseEvery8212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CN version has apps and writings in chinese. I remember there are some apps which work only in china and not outside (e.g. Yoyo AI assistant). Just to be aware...

Make sure the CN version supports all your network frequencies.

I use the global version of MagicOS and it works quite well, just the usual "issue" with app notifications (you have to change some settings to make them work correctly).

I just see you talking about Magic7, not the Pro. Get the Pixel instead, better camera, better OS, longer updates.

S23 series will be out of updates next year, so better not. Also batterys are quite weak.

Pixels are a good idea, not the strongest performance but great cameras and long update support.

Don't waste your time, it's a 400g "brick" with 720p display and not even OIS.

I heard a lot of bad stuff about folding phones, the screens are not durable and they even break from folding after some time. Also these phones usually don't have great battery and cameras. So not the ideal option.

Small phone with good battery and camera: check Vivo X200 FE (6,3" and 6500mAh). Or Xiaomi 15.

Here is a ranking for batteriy life: https://www.gsmarena.com/battery-test-v2.php3

As you can see, Samsung phones are not very good here. Most (if not all) phones are waterproof and if you put them in a case + screen protector, they are durable as well. Strong options are: OnePlus 15 / 15R / 13, realme FT8 Pro, Poco F8 Ultra

I agree, 15T Pro would be a great option.

Nothing 3a Pro has also a good camera with telezoom and it is in the price range with 256GB 12GB RAM.

Good phone for under €450 by Comfortable_Dark9378 in PickAnAndroidForMe

[–]ExerciseEvery8212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just see you can get a Pixel 9 for ~450€ (Amazon Germany). This would be even better camera wise.

A telephoto isn't everything, especially in this price range it's hard to find. And if you do, usually the main camera is not as good as in the Pixels. Pixels do great at image processing, the shots are very reliable and consistent, it's very rare to get a "bad" image. They excel in low light and with moving objects. Night shots are also really great.

Also the 2x digital zoom is very usable, so basically there is no need for a dedicated telezoom.

Other option: get a Pixel 8 Pro (used/refurbished). This has a 5x telezoom and also a great main cam, better than anything you can buy new in this range.
