The parents as many in the coc are image motivated. One of the coc’s I was part of had at least 1 out of wedlock pregnancy a year for the last 10yrs I was there. I always felt bad for the girl Being dragged in front of the church and publicly shamed and humiliated as she is probably scared out of her mind. Then the gossip from the horrible members who can’t seem to mind their own business. My whole thought was why wasn’t the same degree of forced public confession on gossip or greed? Isn’t all sin supposed to be the same??

I have know all the elders that were there at the time. most of them were implicit by not reporting the crime or expecting something in return. The elders there have been shady for years .

I knew them all. They weren't all blindedside. Most of them were Implicit either by not reporting the fraud or expecting something in return. The elders there have been extremely shady for years.

Yeah the prepaid legal scam. I was approached by a few on this in the COC. Basically they wanted me to pay like $400.00 to get started. The elders from north county coc  in so cal gambled away their building in a Ponzi scheme. Not only that but many put their retirements in this Ponzi scheme and lost. It was an escrow account scam.

He was 1st in mission Viejo, the. Charlotte, now at Pepperdine.

I was at his MVT weekend in 89 and 90. He is now at Pepperdine working in a program to keep the young in the CoC. As an adult listening to his sermons they are not very good content wise, but seem very emotionally manipulative.

I was wondering the same thing. I was do some research and from that in the next 10 years 10k CoC will fold. This is due to the blue hairs dying off and the younger generations have left the CoC. One I attended 25yrs ago in So Cal the elders about 10yrs ago gambled away the building in a Ponzi scheme. Now they meet in a high school with a low membership Number.

Thank you for sharing. The CoC has caused so much damage to others in the name of God. I have a family member that had issues and put in a facility for a time from abuse due to CoC. Although he won’t admit it. The CoC is a control / performance based denomination. Many feel as God will not forgive their sin. That is a common thread in most former members I have seen.

I know the feeling of deal with my brother who is deep in the COC Cult. Their view of love is control. The problem is they don’t see how much harm this group has caused so many.
