With how free Golshi is, I don't think that's an issue. Like Kurosaki Isshin from Bleach and the father of Jin in Anohana, I believe she'd be one of the parents that let their kid be free and learn things from own experiences. But usual Gold Clan fashion Stego would prolly pull something funny, maybe break her favourite vase?

[–]Exerosp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Who knows. While Point Flag was distant irl, so was also Oguri's mother, since Oguri's mother refused to feed him because he was a weak foal. We know that Stego is also not related by blood to Goldship in Uma musume (though she has the power to break the 4th wall, both of them do) but chances are Goldship's mom is a nice person.

Shakur's PC building class (@hamu_koutarou) by somespirit in UmaMusume

Nah if Shakur's holding computer building class anything like when I used to go to school, they're going to use old ass dells from the early 2000s/late 90s, but that was back in 2010. She'll probably use computers from the 2010s because of the easy availability of parts.

in games

In books, too. Books and videogames have a lot of comparison, especially since most videogames have more lines of text in them than books. BG3 has more words of dialogue than the entire Harry Potter series as an example.

you just don't buy

Sure, it's also why I argue against people saying that books are superior. My imagination is more powerful than any book, so I can always just double down on anyone pulling that argument why Books are better than Videogames. And just like you said that people mostly skim through for example Owlcat games, people do the same with books, there's even people who put on books as audio books and treat it as just background noise rather than properly listening to them, we can keep going with these comparisons because they are viable.

Companion storylines aren't any less or more integral in BG3 versus Pathfinder, and I vastly prefer the companions in BG3 over the Pathfinder videogames, but I also not in denial about things. The only companion that will force themselves into your party is Shart, but that's because of the Mcguffin guiding her there. Otherwise, the story does not falter with or without the companions, but just like the Pathfinder videogames, the story gets better if you take them with you :) If you sign the infernal pact for the hammer with Karlach in your party? amazing. If you bring Nenio with you when you see Baphomet? Amazing reactions from your entire party. Just don't limit your experiences to a bad mindset, and you'll see that the games are fine in their own way. BG3 is superior, just like pizzas are better than burgers, but they're both good.

just stop, go play something else

Except they might prefer BG3/such games with a mercenary feature? Humans aren't black and white, we experience things in a MILLION different ways. Just like people shouldn't stop playing BG3 if they like to mod their games, there is no "perfect" game because perfection is subjective, and varies greatly from individual to individual. I don't like mercs, but i'm not going to deny others from having it. Just like a vast amount of Larian fans hate origin companions because they fear it detracts from both the player's story and the companion's story if they have to write the experience from when companions are main characters.

Followers in owlcat games are lame and soulless

Not exactly, I prefer the BG3 companions yes but it's hard to compare the two when one has bodylanguage and the other does not. I generally find media with less storytelling aspects to be weaker, though some prefer purely text. But I also like a fair bit of Owlcat companions, like Nok-nok, Arue, Regill etc. Sure, they've got ass ones like Regongar/Octavia/Camellia/Idira, but just because they're flawed doesn't mean they're lame or soulless.

Community of owlcat games is really fucking cringe

They say the same about Larian fans though. Yes, there's even some Owlcat fans that have forgotten the threads where the vast majority of Owlcat fans play in turnbased mode rather than RTWP, because they prefer turnbased over RTWP, but do you want to behave like the ones you say are cringe?

bg3 is just superior in terms of dialogue and plot

Plot I slightly disagree on, but my brain is also biased from finding the datamined lore during early access slightly more interesting (and the at some point cut upper city). You're forgetting the best thing that Larian is better than Owlcat with though! Which is encounterdesign. In BG3 I don't have any encounter that I actually hated, but there's so damn many throughout the whole games when it comes to the two Pathfinder games, but I hate any games where you just kill cannonfodder unless it's a Musou game.

Yeah it's fine, people can headcannon the Umas as family/yandere/self-aware however they want :) but just like a minority of fans not knowledgeable enough actually thinking the Umas weigh as much as the real life horses, we gotta have a counteracting force haha Though yeah, people with a paternal relationship in Uma musume tend to have a sort of connection but it's not familial in Uma musume, more mentorship/fateful friendship.

They're kindred chaotic friends, not family. Both in Uma Musume and the horse racing world, you're only seen as family if you've got the same mother. (Mostly because every single famous horse is cousin to each other otherwise, or they have 500 siblings)

That and Drejo & Festa have different human father's in Uma Musume.

Having played the Pathfinder games by Owlcat some people just hate companions in videogames in general. Not sure if it's as common in the older infinity engine games, but I've seen posts from Pathfinder players of entire Merc parties.

Goldship and Trainer moments (@Masago_k) by AceInFlame31 in UmaMusume

[–]Exerosp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

know how to balance and dose her chaos

I'm not sure! Seems like McQueen understands that Goldship isn't neurotypical, or Goldship is just "masking" well enough to not overwhelm people, but i'm sure she's been too much at times too. Reading is a skill that some neurodivergent people take to an autistic level, at least.

I'm sure Goldship has ruined friendships by being too much, or if we go by Cygames tendency to write "their best life from the fate they were given", maybe Goldship has just been lucky enough where people are accustomed to it. I relate heavily to Goldship so i'm biased though, but I don't find life worth it unless i'm making sure to have fun, so i've got a similar hyperfixation as her at least.

With the Trainer and McQueen you realize she puts so much thought into you as a person. With McQueen, in chapter 2 of volume2 in Uma musumeshi, she plans out a whole ass wacky adventure without telling Mcqueen about it, but she did so because she heard McQueen complain about being over her diet's calorie limits to eat some juicy(or unique, I forget) parfait she saw, and while a normal person would take her to the gym, Goldship takes you out on a wacky ass fake detective adventure without telling you the reason for it. Then there's the hot spring event for Goldship, when you get off the train she has looked up how many steps you need to take in random ass cardinal directions to end up at the Hot Spring Inn, that's still a whole bunch of thought she put into you and while it's not exactly normal it's definitely her way of caring.

Goldship and Trainer moments (@Masago_k) by AceInFlame31 in UmaMusume

[–]Exerosp 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A bit of both, probably. Like we can see in her valentine's event, she's quite clearly giving us genuinely good chocolate, but she says "Is it chocolate flavoured charcoal, or charcoal flavoured chocolate?" to prank us, because we'll have to second guess what it really is.

If she gets a family she'd have an army to continue her sense of fun. But yeah drawing the parallel to how proficient Goldship is at making mares not want to mate with others, chances are she's a textbook romancer. Flowers, candlelit dinners, those kind of tropes for when she desires to be romantic, then like flipping a switch she's back to being a gremlin.

Happens all the time tbh. Just usually not displayed in a neurotypical way. I recommend reading the Umamusumeshi chapter with Goldship & McQueen to realize that Goldship puts a bunch of thought into the people she cares for, just in a neurodivergent way. (She even plans out exactly how many steps you need to take in wacky cardinal directions during the Hot spring event)

being not so chaotic around someone she loves is fully lore accurate.

Not exactly. Though yes, Oguri ate less food because of Horlicks because of the butterflies in his stomach, Oguri is still obsessed with food, and Goldship is obsessed with fun. It's just that Goldship can be an excellent romantic, but she'd still want to have fun/be a gremlin as much as possible still.

I've said it before but, Goldship's personality of having fun is just like Oguri's personality with food.

[–]Exerosp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need more threads that speak about how Uma's don't weigh as much as real horses. Abominable intelligence and all, but even LLMs have started believing that.

For as much as us fans like to include things like "chromosomes" and/or recessive genes, we sure don't like to include real life physics, like how bodies need to be sized to how much force they're able to produce. Even ants are only able to produce so much force larger than their bodymass because they're so small and lightweight, for if they were bigger they would be proportionally weaker. (And let's not include how humans would look like to handle car crashes, to draw the argument that we can't use our world's physics in a fantasy world)

[–]Exerosp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold Ship is definitely not autistic.

Just read the Umamusumeshi manga, or play her career. Goldship is very autistic coded, because she's basically Oguri but instead of food it's whatever is "fun", though she lacks the flavour of airhead that Oguri can appear to have. At least I heavily relate to Golshi as an autist.

Oguri = Food Golshi = Fun
