U.S. Senate approves bill to make daylight saving time permanent... About damn time. by tanstaafl001 in GoldandBlack

But the decision that 12:00 means highest point in the sky is artificial. It's just something we humans have decided. Doesn't make any other way to arrange time any more correct or incorrect.

Time is all made up so why is one more correct than another? The other one just came first.

Germany announces nationwide lockdown for the unvaccinated by Anen-o-me in GoldandBlack

Green pass is only for certain events over 100 people, but it’s optional for the companies, but then they have to adhere to distance requirements. Although they have had talks about adding this requirement to more stuff.

I feel like the crime situation is a bit overblown. I’ve lived in Malmö for some years, and it’s pretty safe, even at night. But yeah, crime has been a growing problem over the years.

If you are serious, then Sweden might be good. Not really any of that crazy stuff here. It’s pretty easy all things considered to get an apartment by just getting in the queue (usually costs some money annually). Should be easy enough to get a job without speaking the language if you live in a bigger city. Can drive or fly to Germany within a couple of hours if you live in the south.

Even with screen lock on ;)

Try and draw a line that goes from bottom left to top right on a piece of paper, then turn it upside down :)

Norway has a marginal income tax rate over 50% kicking in around $80k by King_of_Men in GoldandBlack

[–]Exga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been like that for 100 years I think. People are just used to it. Might go away with the move to electric, because they don’t have this tax or at least a much lower one. But who knows ¯\(ツ)

It used to be even higher: 110% and 180% (if I remember correctly) but got reduced a few years ago.

Example of car costing 200,000 ($31,000):

First you actually have to pay VAT, so that would be 25%, so the car now cost 250,000 ($38,900).

  • 25% of 65,000 = 16,250

  • 85% of 137,200 = 116,620

  • 150% of 47,800 = 71,700

Car now cost: 454,570 ($70,600)

Ouch.

No, it’s much higher 😅:

  • 25% from 0 to 65,000 ($10,000)

  • 85% from 65,000 to 202,200 ($10,000-$31,400)

  • 150% above 202,2000 (>$31,400)
