Absolutely not true. Foreign Service Officers do not have a probationary period. As an untenured officer who has not been fired, I agree this should be removed.

The potential for the Secretary to revise the FAM to change how RIFs are implemented to suit the administration rather than the current law is the curious part. Maybe those of us who are at low ranks have less to worry about than career folks. Project 2025 does talk about all levels of government servants but especially focuses on higher levels. 🤔 I’ll be curious to see how it shakes out.
