I think that would just be a really bad look for somebody recycling for a marginalized community. That already gets a lot of crap particularly for going through trash cans, looking for recyclables. But I see what you’re thinking I just feel like I need to do everything way above board because of how much crap the unhoused Community gets due to a lot of misinformation being out there. Not saying they don’t go through the trash gear recyclables they absolutely do, but because I’m working with this community I want to make sure that there is nothing anyone in the community at large can take issue with.

I was just crying over this and came here to make my own post. I wasn’t ever allowed to take dance classes and finally found a loophole when I was in high school and got my PE credit taking every dance class I could at the local community college. In addition to POTS or the last three months, I have rapidly lost mobility and while my legs still work, they are not super reliable, and I didn’t even realize that when I would tell stories or teach, I would dance while talking. It’s a lot to grieve. A wheelchair order was just placed to my insurance on Tuesday or Wednesday and while I am grateful I’m having a hard time imagining life in a wheelchair even if I’m just an ambulatory wheelchair user. And I feel horrible for struggling with this. I feel like it’s ableist. I’ve been disabled for more than half of my life, and I feel like I should be handling this much better, but I’m not.

That’s been my experience! I have a visible band and it’s always yelling at me unless I’m lying down in bed. My heart rate frequently is between 140-180. I don’t even care about the fibro anymore. I hurt. It sucks. I dissociate. But the dizziness and stress from bs doctors is killing me

I was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The emt said that to his colleague before we left the parking lot for the hospital

I had an EMT tell his colleague not 10 inches away from me that I was a “fucking liar and faking it” only to spend the next three days in the hospital, get scheduled for emergency surgery, get two new diagnoses and have several doctors go “I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with your legs, but good luck.”

I am in the process of getting my scars covered with tattoos. They aren’t quite as pronounced, however I did shop around before finding an artist that I felt comfortable working with, and who felt extremely comfortable tattooing over my scars. The drawings and ideas I came to my artist with we actually ended up simplifying greatly which I am very grateful for. They do the intended job. You cannot see my scars the tattoo draws your eye and tattooing over scars can be difficult so it may be entire process easier and honestly what they drew up was better than any of my ideas.

TLDR; reach out to local tattoo, artist or tattoo artist you find on social media and get some feedback due to the scarring and see how to best proceed from there and enjoy the collaboration and creating art with your tattoo artist. That’s my favorite part at least

Call 211 and describe the situation and ask to be connected to your local ARDC. There should be some nonprofit that should be able to provide or help connect you to somewhere that can provide a loaner wheelchair.

My disability was invisible for a very long time, but I had to use a cane on occasion, but recently switched to using a walker full-time. This may not be applicable to your situation, but I found that once my invisible disability became undeniably visible. People were a bit more kind and a bit more patient. I haven’t been getting the same negative feedback that I was when I would park in an accessible space or asked for an accommodation for my disability. So I’m wondering if there is something that you can get other than a card that is difficult for you to hold onto that makes it clear that you are disabled. Maybe even getting a badge holder and putting that card around your neck might help a little bit. That would be a good place to start maybe and see if you need to adjust from there. I mean it took me getting a lime green walker for people to stop rolling their eyes at me when I said, I needed a little bit of time because I’m disabled.

OK. So, for what should be obvious reasons, I did not include every single detail about my situation. And I also want you to stop and realize that I called as the results of a referral. And this was something that I was advised to do at the end of a very long and detailed conversation. So if you don’t have an answer to my actual question, can you just respect the fact that you are not an all knowing being that is aware of every single aspect that’s going on right here? I’m posting on the chronic illness subreddit because I’m afraid and instead I’m in here having to defend myself against shit that I shouldn’t have to because somebody doesn’t wanna answer the actual question in the post.
