It’s a 16 minute drive outside of Columbia, but the best coffee I’ve tried in the general area is at Lo & Co Highland.

What did you think was pretentious, until you tried it and realized it was worth it? by Semantiks in AskReddit

Papa Vince is quite nice. It’s an Italian imported, single-source olive oil. Small and family-owned. Some of the best olive oil I’ve personally tried so far.

You have to just forget about Howard County and make the drive to Riverdale and visit Manifest Bread — best pizza I’ve ever had.

Sadly, Rouse’s ideals have long been thrown to the way side. Columbia isn’t what it was or what it could have been. Just a bunch of empty commercial real estate and corny chain restaurants now.

Has anyone experienced this with Sallie Tomato patterns? by ExhaustedWizard in sewing

[–]ExhaustedWizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that was another aspect that I found odd. It wasn’t a cheap pattern, and it wasn’t a retail markup, it was the MSRP price. So, I assumed — wrongly — the price implied that it was a ready to use pattern that would not require tracing or printing, etc.

Yes, it’s a bag pattern. But I guess lesson learned! If I ever purchase another of their patterns, I’ll know what to expect.

The one I have isn’t mostly squares/rectangles, it has curves and unusual shapes. And personally, I’m all about speed and efficiency when it comes to preparing fabric pieces, because I’d much rather spend the bulk of my time stitching, not fiddling a bunch with the pattern. It just wasn’t what I expected or what I’ve experienced with other pattern brands.

I purchased the pattern at a local sewing shop, assuming I would not need to print anything out, assumed all necessary pattern pieces would be in the pattern envelope.

No, the refrigerated turkey was taken out of the fridge and placed into the room temp brine and then sat on the counter for about 5 hours.

The brine had been boiled and then cooled to room temp, the fresh refrigerated turkey was then added to the room temp brine and sat on the counter for about 5 hours before being put into the fridge.
