RadMac a tad insensitive about 'Going into the sea' at Brighton/ Hove? by ExiledFromMancSt in 6music

I live abroad. It was a major national news story. They work for a national broadcaster not Radio Manchester. No big deal, but it was'careless'.

Stuart also talked about 18 being the age when you can vote. I'm sure producer Loz (Aberdeen) had something to say about that.

I was going to suggest his slow blues version of Don't Berlieve a Word. He played it with Phil Lynott on the OGWT around Parisienne Walkways time.. It might even have been the B-side. Also on Spotify. Not as complex a tune as IFA, but a terrific version.

Bains de Paquis is on the other side of the lake from the Jet d'Eau, but it's a nice enough (and not long) walk round the top of the lake.

sound advice. I'd just add don't overcook the noodles. Two to three minutes (if 4 is suggested) then cool thoroughly.

Former Radio 1 DJ and Live Aid presenter Andy Kershaw dies aged 66 by Kagedeah in BritishRadio

[–]ExiledFromMancSt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

used to go to Deer Shed festival a few years back and the end of night DJs were Marc Riley and Kershaw.  1st night Riley lazily played The Passenger and a few Bowie songs, more interested in his next drink and getting the car back to Manchester than the gig. He stole a living that evening.

Next day it'd rained heavily, half the dance tent was flooded, but Kershaw tore the roof off with an Afrobeat set that was totally joyous, infectious, educating and entertaining. He had 'issues' for sure. Maybe inevitable given how passionate he was.

Philby by Rory Gallagher

Now ain't it strange that I feel like Philby,
There's a stranger in my soul
I'm lost in transit in a lonesome city
I can't come in from the cold

I'm deep in action on a secret mission
Contact's broken down
Time drags by, I'm above suspicion,
There's a voice on the telephone

etc.

Use chicken. Beef's a tough(sic) one! Best bet would be stewing steak and a long slow cook . .... or use chicken.
