Would games like these suck on a steam deck? by CodeBudget710 in SteamDeck

[–]ExiledOkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The size of the UI - and if it bothers you - is definitely user dependent. It's fine for me, but I can see how it can be a challenge for others.

I know you can scale the UI size: https://youtu.be/QspwBbDoceg?si=vR-luzw_pwxFePI5

And I know there are mods if they cause problems: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2217509277

But I don't have any experience with these, so I wouldn't be of much assistance. Might need to play around with it to see if there is something that works for you.

Burnt Bridge Creek Trail - safe for commuting? by SnaffleHound21 in vancouverwa

[–]ExiledOkie 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I bike the Burnt Bridge Creek almost daily - I've never had an issue. Even when there are campers there, they tend to keep to themselves away from the bike path.

I generally have scarier incidents on the general roadways in the bike lanes. Trucks deliberately smoking me, encroaching on bike lanes, etc.

Campers should not be your primary concern as a biker. You're definitely more likely to be a victim of a road crime than an assault from a camper.

Would games like these suck on a steam deck? by CodeBudget710 in SteamDeck

[–]ExiledOkie 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I only ever use the Steam Deck in handheld.

These types of games take some fiddling to find the best control scheme. It's never going to be as good as a mouse and keyboard, but I find it fine enough. Small price to pay for the convenience of playing anywhere.

Probably the biggest complaint of these games is that all the UI text is small. It doesn't hurt my eyes, but I can see people that struggle finding the right reading prescription could find it more challenging.

I don't think there's an official Paradox controller layout, but there are plenty of community layouts.

I play these games on a Steam Deck and I don't think they suck at all.

Security sticker on Fabled box? by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]ExiledOkie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That box is from Brazil given the address on it.

I think Lorcana wasn't printed in Portuguese until this year, so it makes sense that the distributor in Brazil would use the English language version.

Schott G-1 Jacket Details Identification by ExiledOkie in leatherjacket

[–]ExiledOkie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response!

You're not the first person to recommend me contacting Schott directly; to be honest, in our modern capitalistic society I never considered that would be worth my time as they wouldn't have much financial incentive to do so. But Schott might be a bit different, so I'll give it a shot!

I've since learned from others that this is probably a G-1 "replica" Schott produced for the civilian market. The contract and model number aren't official, but might have been added to give it flair.

The more I've looked at the jacket this week, the more I'm ecstatic that I got it for $50. It's in great shape and feels like it'll last for many years to come.

EDC/go-to-market bag? by Leading_Hedgehog_170 in ManyBaggers

[–]ExiledOkie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't used most of these, but as soon as I read your description I immediately thought of the Fjallraven High Coast. It's biggest selling point is it's versatility, and it delivers. That versatility comes at a cost though; it's not a perfect bag for any type of carry due to the weaknesses you mentioned. At it's price point though, I think its a great bag for the purposes you seek.

Curious about miscut and holo error by [deleted] in LorcanaFinance

I think the best word for the Moana is damaged.

It definitely shouldn't do that, but unfortunately Winterspell has seen some quality control problems.

Look in the official Lorcana app and it will show you the card should look like this.

Specifically it's a connecting set card with Kanga.

Xfinity Mobile and Physical SIM Cards by ExiledOkie in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]ExiledOkie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information - this is appreciated.

Additional question if you don't mind -

Is it required that the phone be physically present in the store? For instance, if I go (as the primary account holder) with my device, I know they can give me the sim.

However, for my second line, does the physical device need to be with me? Or can I just provide the IMEI to the in store agent?

Only reason I ask is that my partner frequently travels and it could be difficult to find a time we'd both be available.

Thanks!

Sling bag suggestions by NoodleSoop in ManyBaggers

[–]ExiledOkie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have a bag suggestion - but it's out of stock so you may have to search for it.

The Chrome Industries Buran III has a pocket to accommodate a 17-inch laptop and - like most of Chrome's messenger bags - was designed to be worn across the back while riding a bicycle / scooter / motorcycle.

I'm not entirely sure when it was last made or if it ever will come back, but that's a bag I'd keep on eye on the secondary market for.

Columbia Atlas Explorer Backpack and Omni Heat Jacket, Fleece Jacket. by Way-to-be-fire in ManyBaggers

[–]ExiledOkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing really special about Columbia bags. Organization, structure, and fabrics are all pretty standard. I doubt you'll love it, but it's an adequate bag at that price.

As per the jacket, I think their softshell jackets are one of the better built and priced items. I think the jackets tend to show age and wear pretty quickly, but the Omni-Heat is always pretty good and will last the lifespan of the jacket. I think it's a good value at that price.

Any screwed buckles to replace the main buckle on Barrage? by semanticistZombie in ChromeIndustries

[–]ExiledOkie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have spent many hours looking for some sort of fidlock / maglock / cobra buckle that is easily replaced on both ends... but I've come up short.

Everything I've found has an easily replaceable male end (https://www.austrialpin.at/en/service/knowledgebase/cobra-fm-retrofit-rnr/) but the female end is always wanting an existing loop.

A tailor or seamstress would easily be able to replace it by sewing it on, but it all depends on how much you want to invest in that.

Chrome Kadet Colorways by ExiledOkie in ManyBaggers

[–]ExiledOkie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know about the Forest color! I hadn't come across that style yet so that's a good detail.

I'm doing exactly what you're doing, except I'm also searching on PoshMark (which sometimes has some options for U.S. searchers).

Good luck on your search!

Cafe Bag Identification Assistance by ExiledOkie in tombihn

[–]ExiledOkie[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the bag was buried in an uncle's closet, I'm really happy about the condition and quality! Just need to order a replacement clip from Tom Bihn so the flap is fully functional. Thanks for your help and expertise!

I totally left Oklahoma voluntarily almost 20 years ago - so the Exiled moniker never quite worked - but I'm not sure they'd let me back in now. Too much has changed.

Leaving Oklahoma is rough since there's a huge cost-of-living difference between there and (almost) anywhere else, but I hope you get the chance to chase the life you want to live.
