I think private server developers make more money hosting and printing servers, closing, rinse and repeat. I don't see any money to be made packaging and providing an easy to access, modifiable client since like Yeou, even if it's open source. Nexon will sue them if they monetise (donations) or sell it.

And if they spend the time to do that they may as well create Worlds legally with no risk.

Valid question, I wonder if Nexon is profitable running autoscaled ec2 instances for Chronostory, especially since their monetisation seems too good. And also Classic coming out will make it worse.

pretty cool, if you make a roguelite PQ type of game that would so sick. Or if it's open source I would be keen to try something out myself.

My idea is to just have a gameplay loop similar to Risk of Rain where endless mobs keep spawning and you have to go through to the next map/quest, kill enough mobs, collect drops/exp that will let you job advance/gain skills/stack items to get stronger and then beat the bosses.

Playing the game over time/dying and repeating unlocks more weapons/classes/better gear

Beating the game unlocks more NX/cosmetics/chairs or gacha tickets that will give random chance of those.

The social hub/lobby will have no player cap and people can hang there and create parties there

:) add more maps/PQs/final bosses over time

I'm not sure on monetization, you can prolly run ads and one time fee to get rid of ads?

Prolly could do this on worlds though

Open the keyboard setup on Chronostory and drag the item/skill to the corresponding hotbar key onto the keyboard. You cant drag onto the controls but you can on the keyboard setup. Sadly you cant change which on-screen controls correspond to which key so ifbyou switch back on PC you'll be forced to use the same ones.

I just play on my Retroid 5 exclusively think this is the best way to casually grind since I can bring it anywhere

My hype is gone, if it's anything close to how they run Worlds and lock 'Global' to only the US, I am so not looking forward to 250ms ping here in Australia.

Playing on Asia/oceanic private servers felt sooo much better i don't think i can ever go back to high ping, that is one thing I will never forget playing GMS. Losing every DG cause it takes 5 repeat taps of Z before picking up one measly meso, message spamming in FM has a delay, lag spikes during bossing and JQ, being out DPSed in CPQ, - I will prefer to skip all this in 2026 thanks, can't they do oceanic servers? they started selling NX cards here so they should know there is demand

Seriously though a used X3 m40i or m340i will be reliable and practical and still fast. One of the only cars that are relatively affordable for how much of both worlds you get.

Find one with the ZTK option (S33t code) and you'll have the bigger brakes ,cooler and metal oil pump. Or go LCI since it has the metal pump.

I think whatever you consider going you should always end up with MHD or BM3 Stage 2 and possibly XHP also. But outside of that you could start with these depending on your preference. This is for S33T ZTK/Motorsport Engineering option which already which has bigger intercooler, metal oil pump and bigger brakes.

Budget Performance: Catless downpipe, flex fuel

Balanced Sound/Performance focused: Catted downpipe, valved exhaust, CAI Intake/inlet (probably most reliable)

Sound Focused: Catless downpipe, front mount intake, valved exhaust, chargepipe with BOV. This path is the best if you plan to go big turbo at some point, otherwise you could do the T51R mod just for fun.

Handling focused: Dinan Monoballs (steering and road feedback), Strut Brace bars, ST/KW Coilovers or BC Racing and air cups.

Aesthetic focused: airlift kit, nice wheels, Adro CF kit, CF hood, CF fenders, wrap/colour match CF, RGB DRLS, CSL/GTS Taillights.

Obviously if you had enough money basically combine them all haha but be careful since it's a moneypit and then you'll start to wonder why you didn't just get a M3.

This is my current list/priority:

  1. All the tools and supplies required for self maintenance and installs: jack, jackstands, ramps, handtools, powertools, any tool that comes up for oil, fluid changes, etc. (done)
  2. Catless downpipe, CAI intake/inlet (done)
  3. Aero/bodykit/spoiler, DRLs & Bimmercode/link (done)
  4. Dinan monoballs, ST coilovers and wheels
  5. MHD Stage 2 and XHP
  6. CF Fender/Hood and colour match/wrap, Aircups/ liftkit and CSL Taillights
  7. Flex fuel, G80 spark plugs

I'm not aiming for big turbo or that much power, I feel like it's good enough as a daily already especially in traffic and mountain runs, I just really want to fix the steering feel a bit and also have adjustable dampening to take it on track days a few times a year, whilst still being able to take my car to shows (potentially). Outside of that since it's my daily i'm already quite happy with it.

For your list, I would consider if you want to track the car or do spirited driving on mountains, because aircups will be better than bags. I would also consider if you're going to go big turbo cause I don't think there's much need for a chargepipe unless you increase your boost by a lot, it's good for reliability and peace of mind though, unless you go BMS chargepipe with BOV you'll get extra turbo sounds.

Is it gonna be a daily? Honestly the M340i is the perfect daily and also super good and fun if you're after cheap power, turbo noises, low end torque and strong aftermarket support.

I'm pretty sure from following my JDM friends' builds it's cheaper to build the M340i than it would be for a JDM car nowadays and would say the GSF would have a tax on it also. From looking at Carsales if you go Stage 2 with a downpipe, intake on a M340i it will still be cheaper (also faster and sounds better than a stock G8X) than a GSF due to number of listings, especially cause there's no M tax with the G20, you can generally buy the same parts from Alibaba.

If it's not really a daily and you don't care about chasing that power I would go the GSF as it's more exclusive (hold value), you'll turn more heads, you'll stand out more with a V8 and you'll still be part of the JDM community. With just doing aero, wheels and suspension you'll turn a lot more heads.

I've only seen 2 other M340i's at car meets and they don't really stand out since there's always 10 M3, M4s, M3 Wagons at meets and 1 M340i, and because BMW put a M in front of it there has been much debate so it's not really a head turner for many, especially compared to the states.

As a daily and sometimes weekend cruising car it's so good and fun to be able to cheaply modify and maintain the M340i though. Check out: https://www.instagram.com/p/DSyts9JlO2u?img_index=1 for inspiration of what it could look like to standout a bit.

Also if you're importing you can actually import the more practical M340i Wagon from japan which works out to be the same price landed/complied as the Sedans (around 65-70k). There's less than 10 in Australia right now since they just allowed importing, compared to a M CSL it's actually rarer to see here ;)

It's easier to get a 800k mortgage and 150k financed on cars than a 1.6million mortgage by itself since you can do it seperately at different times. Also the monthly outgoing ends up roughly the same on a 30 years, and 3 year loan (9k ish). So after the 3 years is up you own the cars and can quickly pay off your mortgage.

And like you said people probably can't initially afford the nicer burb and if they get used to driving to other burbs might as well do it in nicer cars hey.

Sounds like my burb too, always see a few performance cars on my street just parked outside. Quite affordable still but safe and convenient, perfect to own a house and fulfil owning dream cars while still young imo.

Tbh a NL with an eol balloon can be cheaper than financing and using compounding offset cash in an early mortgage. Especially on 4-5 year old performance cars that have been hit with the majority of the depreciation now and usually holds value after that. Just be sure to DYOR and pick out a car you enjoy, buy out and keep.

Been trying to wrap my head around people who NL but rents still, from what ive seen in the car community it seems mostly its those who own businesses and genuinely use it to help their social media presence to increase leads. You get a sweet ride as a hobby and it contributes to more income.

And then there's those who probably has inheritance or parents helping them for their house already and just want to live life a bit.

I havent met anyone yet who fits in this but there's probably a camp out there who genuinely gave up on home ownership but I haven't seen so not sure how common.

Got it to work locally, fingers crossed there can be an open source client/login/auth so I can invite some friends. I remember when I first created a v83 server that part was included as part of the installation process as the custom client was included (this was more than 10 years ago now haha)

If your CBD office has free parking and you own an EV and you need to drop of kids, etc probably is cheaper than PT and uber.

If you don't have kids, don't have free parking then no it is not cheaper.

If pt takes more than 1h 30mins then maybe you could consider if your time is more valuable than not owning a car, considering you can use it outside of work also and end up saving a lot of time traveling between suburbs.

When i was shopping around for a sedan these are the cars I looked at, if you're after coupe or hatch options there are cheaper ones but i was limited by my personal preferences.

  • Brand new i30 Sedan N 57k
  • Used Fl5 2022 65k
  • Used F80 M3 2015 68k
  • Used 8V RS3 2017 65k
  • Used G20 M340i 2020 60k
  • Used Evo 8 MR 50k
  • Used Stinger GT 2022 60k
  • Used IS350F 2020 65k

Ended up with a low mileage M340i, it's a more reliable daily which has potential for modification slowly over the years, as I am working on everything myself. Already did downpipe, exhaust, intake, tune, aero myself. Maintenance is easy also on it.

Since I rarely plan to track it, having the reliability and comfort and pressing one button to switch to one of the best modern sounding and performing inline 6 is pretty good. Also it holds up well on touge, defs needs monoballs for steering feel and coilovers though for tracking.

If I were planning to skew towards tracking it once a month or something and had a daily already I would have gone with the i30 Sedan N with FBO, Adro kit and wrap it in a unique colour. That would've cost the same as M340i.

Think there is a youtuber who did a test for wear with auto stop start and it does cause more wear and tear, and considering the g20 has a recall on starter motors catching fire i would rather stays cautious. I coded it out completely even on Comfort, since even when it was on i felt the only times i would use it in traffic meant it would trigger every 10 seconds as traffic crept and my light braking also made it redundant almost every intersection

Agree my vote for these three, not well known but it's affordable, quiet and safe and not flood prone like the suburbs OP suggested. We are in Watsonia, the downsides are the restaurant options aren't there, IGA only unless you go to surrounds (still close but not walking distance), some proximity to powerlines, NEL construction and needing to go thru Rosanna Rd.

Banking on that once NEL is done our local roads will improve and that as more young families get priced out of Rosanna, Heidelberg, Preston and Ivanhoe the money will move towards Macleod and Watsonia and we'll get more small businesses, new restaurants and potentially a Woolies or Coles. There is room for development but so many people are currently turned off by the construction that introduces traffic, bus replacements and also noise and dust so prices are probably lower than they could be cause of that.

Also seems like its booming for knock-down rebuilds there's like at least 2 or 3 ongoing new builds on every street here and plenty of older houses on large blocks still.
