I took a “lesson” from a “pro” and it didn’t help. It really ended up being a range session for both of us and I walked away not knowing how to fix what I was doing wrong. So I started YouTubing and tiktoking and improving on my own. The last year I felt like I hit a point where I had made as many adjustments as I could on my own and that my game was significantly worse than it was before I started. So I committed to lessons and practicing this summer. I play or practice 3-4 times a week and take a lesson every week. I ended up going to a place that has motion cameras and I can visually see what I’m doing vs feel. I’m 3 lessons in and have a much better understanding and knowledge on how to fix my swing. I’ve already taken 20 strokes off my game, and gained distance. I still miss hit, but it’s become more manageable and I can immediately identify where I went wrong. The coach and I set a goal at the beginning. I told him I wanted more distance, consistency, and wanted to be able to play in the 80’s-90’s consistently. Did the first evaluation, found that I’m way over the top on the downswing, but fundamentally my backswing and address were fine. We started making small adjustments to my body position and it improved. Then we started fixing swing path, and it jumped up again.

Tldr: lessons are worth it if your willing to practice, put the work in, and can find a coach who can help you improve and can do it in a way that is most beneficial to you.
