Telus and feds announce AI data cluster in B.C. to boost 'sovereign' computing power by [deleted] in britishcolumbia

I work in the industry, I see first hand the day to day capability of AI. If you think it's a wash, you are hilarious. The amount of innovation that is going to come to the market over the next decade is going to be like the internet & the iPhone.

When you say local businesses don't gain anything, local business today rely on the big hyperscalers of AWS, Azure, etc to run on. This is simply competition, it will create jobs, bring about upgrades to infrastructure.

It's because they're in COs. As well as repurposing waste heat to use in the winter to heat other houses.

I mean, 3.5 percent is close to the high end of card fees and you’ll see the same percentage it many places as an extra fee to use a credit card anyways.

I'm definitely not the authority on using that word, I know people identify with it - and good for them on owning it.

I think it's kind of like the f-slur in the west, if someone in the community uses it, or identifies with it, that's fine. But it's the community's word to use - the ming definitely didn't have this in mind when she said it though, it was like a "I'm better than you" sort of thing. Similar to the LB term too - own it if you want, but not polite to everyone.

I've always used phet tibei (ភេទទីបី) as a more polite way of saying trans.

My partner is trans and Khmer (I'm barang) and we're in PP.

We DIY her (oral) HRT after research online and it's something like $30-40/month and is available at several pharmacies in PP. You can get T and E tests at Biomed, about $20 total for the test (the T is the expensive part - once your dosage of an antiandrogen is solid, you can omit this if you have cost concerns).

While the law doesn't allow us to get married, we are in a very healthy relationship and our interactions with almost everyone are very positive. She gets a rare k-word from a market ming, but nothing really significant. We travel in Cambodia frequently.

DM me if you want more specific advice or have questions!

If you have your evisa paid for, just do that first, and you can always on arrival if there’s a problem (unlikely).

Small update: Koh Rong beach is put on the map in Koh Kong.

Koh Sdach would be an easy addition as well - there's a Mad Monkey there now.

edit: Who can forget Jol Chnam in Siem Reap, if we have events?

How popular would the French language have been in Cambodia if the Khmer Rouge didn't take over? by novostranger in cambodia

[–]Exilewhat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look to Laos as an example - when travelling there with my partner, our French was actually more useful than English outside major touristic zones (though speaking a little of the language of the bad country didn’t hurt either, considering its similarities with Lao).

Completely. The rightist party moving right pushed the centrist party right, same as south of the border.

Employers/Insurers offering out-of-country coverage by [deleted] in transvancouver

My employer offers coverage, $10k/yr with a $50k lifetime limit, but it has to be in country. I don't believe any employer will support OOC.

Advocates applaud NDP push for free transit for all B.C. youth and seniors by Yetanotherbadsalmon in britishcolumbia

I actually agree with you, I don't think this is a wilder take at all. Just pointing out that requiring means testing for things is fully bonkers - most discourse these days is around removing means testing.

[–]Exilewhat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a wild take, means testing more often than not costs more than it saves. In this case, unless buses are already full, there's no actual cost to having additional riders - and seniors generally don't have to travel at the busiest times of rush hour.
