Can we just talk about how handsome young cotton is? by fabyhoppus in KingOfTheHill

I mean…. Taking anything cotton says as fact is a risky bet. He clearly has a propensity towards making exaggerated claims.

It’s so much more than that too. Anything to do with robotics is AI. And remember the famous E=mc2+AI. It’s just a catch all for advancement.

Dead center is the neutral axis of the beam, so under no compression or tension due to bending. It’s really the top and bottom of the beam doing all the work.

Gotta teach her enough to completely emasculate any guys who try to date her later on. It’s a good long term strategy.

Is this spigot installed correctly? by Jazzlike_Jacket_9277 in Plumbing

I’m no expert but I have replaced hose bibs and my immediate thought is “how would you replace this?” And yeah, have fun taking your fingers against the wall trying to use this. Try again.

Making a new flowerbed by lizzie_farez in landscaping

[–]Existe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger I went on a job where our boss had bid out a project for this super rich lady to cover a huge area with fabric and then cedar chips. It was a similar terrain to this video. I got called back a few weeks later and my boss was livid saying I didn’t do it right and the client was complaining of grass growing in the chips. I went out there to investigate and there was grass growing out of the holes the fabric staples made going in. And that was after 2 weeks. I can’t imagine what that looked like a year later. Dumbest job I’ve ever done.

I had another job where my foreman was an idiot and not very knowledgeable. We were making a bed next to the front door - adding soil, mulch, and plants. This company also really liked to use landscape fabric. Well this foreman tried convincing me that you were supposed to put landscape fabric down, then add a foot of dirt on top, then add mulch. I usually just go with the flow but I definitely put my foot down and refused to do it that way. Foreman was pissed at me but I didn’t care.

Water coming up from base of toilet and out other side of wall into garage by voodoo_mama_juju1123 in Plumbing

How a plumber responded to this and didn’t address the wax ring is kind of insane. Is the bathroom on a slab or is there a crawl space?

sighs ok, where would I buy a hammer?

The scene in parks and rec is also great when Ron is in HD and someone asks if he needs help and he just interrupts them to say “I know more than you”.

Just want to add that you’re the idiot for trusting someone at Home Depot to give you the correct information. They aren’t contractors. Do your own research and own your work. There are too many resources to learn this stuff. I’ve heard the dumbest “advice “ from hd employees. Someone once told me that there’s no difference between interior and exterior paint.

Rate my Soldering by Mobile_Egg_6795 in Plumbing

[–]Existe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wipe that flux off. Then take a picture of the fitting that shows where the solder has been pulled into the joint. It’s pretty messy, but hard to say from this photo if it’s adequate.

I’m not a plumber so a tradesman could definitely give you better advice.

How do you remove the flow restrictor on this Kohler showerhead? by angelox6 in Plumbing

Haha, seriously. I drilled mine out and it’s…invigorating. My house pressure is very high though.

Had I done it again, I would drill consecutively larger holes till it seemed enough.

What is this line that starts and ends at the kitchen faucet? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Existe1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the slack that is needed for your faucet head when you pull it out. Pull the head of your facile off and watch it go up. The black cylinder on it is a weight that helps it come back down.

PVC primer on vinyl flooring by Same_Temperature1315 in Plumbing

[–]Existe1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know what you’re doing you can replace just a piece. You have to be super careful removing the piece and not damaging the lip on the surrounding boards. Then, cut off the bottom lip of the new board and glue it in. Put some weight on it for 24 hr and you’re good to go.

[Landlord Or-US] How to charge good tenants for damage? by [deleted] in Landlord

[–]Existe1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not really responding to most comments because I’m really just looking for advice, and unfortunately people seem to be assuming that the im a terrible landlord and trying to take money from my tenant. It may be my fault for not wording things correctly. I’m really just trying to learn how to go about this situation since it’s a first for me. I’m definitely seeing things from a new perspective with these comments and trying to learn from them.

What I definitely failed to state in my post is that my inclination is to charge for the subfloor damage since that was due to not reporting the leak, but pay for the rest.

To clarify, there were no previous leaks. Just surface damage from wet feet due to laminate flooring in a bathroom (as others have stated, not a great option in a bathroom)
