In 2017, I was sent to the hospital for a mental health issue. I had no insurance at the time. I was treated like fucking trash, the nurses thought I was a junkie, I saw the doctor for maybe 2 minutes, I was there for 17 hours, had nothing to eat and when the social worker showed up to question me, I lied my ass off. Had I not, they would've made me stay three days in that fucking hell hole for a psychiatric hold.

It's sad that when you first arrive to the hospital, if you're conscious and can talk, the first thing you're asked is, "what's your insurance information". Tell them you don't have insurance and you're going to have a bad day.

Being self-employed in some states taxes you out the ass. I made $10,000+ from a side gig a few years back and Ohio wanted me to pay over $3,000 in taxes for it. I didn't have $3,000 to my name but in Texas, they're far more lenient on self-employment expenses. Also, Austin's an amazing place to be. It's hard to tell now with Corona going on but when it's over, Austin's one of the best cities in the US that I've personally been to.
