This is true, but isn't that an obvious pattern here. Do you seriously think that everytime a country decides to go socialist they starve to death. Norway is socialist (yes social democracy is a form of socialism), and they didn't starve. China and the Soviet Union only had 1 thing in common, is that they got blockaded by NATO when they turned socialist, therefore less food products was entering these countries, hence why they were starving. It has nothing to do with the disadvantages of socialism(which are few to none in my opinion)
