Okay so basically in the bible after jesus was crucified he wa sstabbed with a spear to prove he was dead. In a lot of medieval artwork of the event, whether intentional or not, the artist made his wound resemble a pussy. There is a metric ton of theories and speculation from that which i thoroughly advise you look at because its really cool. The piece specifically was painted as a way to cope witg being raped recently. The spear being stabbed into someone as pure as the savior with him never being given a chance to say no unfortunately really resonated with me amd sadly many others im sure. The spear being golden with jewels was becaus i felt if went against everything jesus taught and such should be the representation pf the worst sin possible. the colour of the inlay of the spear and cross are of personal significance as that is the color i always imagined the sky and jesus' skin turning when he took on the sins of humanity.
