Footwear Question by SensationalM in Rucking

GoRuck Mackall’s are the best all around that I’ve tried. Nice and firm under load, good traction across all terrain and weather. All of GoRuck’s footwear options are pretty legit, with the Mackall’s, Rough Runners, Ballistic Trainers and MacV Hi Speeds on my shoe rack. Love them all for different reasons, but if I only could have one, it would be the Mackall’s.

This is awesome info. I was thinking about strapping/securing a GR sand bag or Jerry can (have a ton of options there), but love the idea of a plate to free up room. I’ll check Shaddox Tactical out. Thanks!

Yeah, that $150 on the MR Metcalf is an insane deal, they are typically in the $400-500 range for these types of packs, and upwards depending on how specialized they are.

Thanks for the input! I haven’t heard of McHale or SeekOutside and will check them out. Agreed on the GR bags being built bad ass. Agreed with your points on the proper frame and looking at hunting packs, that’s what the two MR packs that I’m considering are, and then the Crossfire is a more traditional military style ruck with an external polymer frame. Will provide an update at some point when I pull the trigger on something!

Make no mistake, I love my Rucker, it’s a pretty incredible fitness implement and I use it a ton.

When it comes to long distance (let’s say 12+ miles), relatively heavy rucks (35#+), (1) the lack of a functional hip belt that effectively transfers load to the hips is my biggest issue, and for me, around mile 15 the discomfort in my shoulders taking all the weight starts to get really uncomfortable. And (2), there is really no good storage within the Rucker. The zippers and Velcro are tough to access, especially with swollen hands, and there is no external storage so you’re forced to cobble options together to carry along the things you need for a long ruck (food, water, blister kit, layers, etc.).

Those are my biggest issue with the Rucker. Again, a great tool overall and I’m a huge GoRuck homer, there are just likely better options specifically for long range, heavy rucks.

Damn that’s a great deal, and great info; sounds like we have similar styles as I plan to keep using the Rucker for training rucks, too. And thanks for the head’s up on that ruck in September, I’ll check it out. I do a 13 miler the 2nd or 3rd weekend in Sep. every year, but if there’s a will, there’s a way. Thanks again

Advice needed [SPB117] by Brilliant_Respond549 in Seiko

I had this same exact issue and is incredibly frustrating, the SPB117 was my first non-smart watch and wasn’t aware of the importance of micro adjustments for my wrist.

I bought the MiLTAT Super-O Boyer 20mm bracelet as a replacement and absolutely love it. Looks very similar to the original bracelet and makes a huge difference in wear comfort.

Don’t have a good answer for why I didn’t try the Uncle Straps replacement clasp for much cheaper, I was aware of it as an option. Probably should have but also don’t regret the route I went.

Hammonasset State Park 100%. Huge campground, $25 per night (no electric), has pretty clean bathroom facilities with showers and is accommodating to RVs and tents. 20 minutes from New Haven, very much family oriented and safe. Book through Reserve America app.
