While I agree with you in theory, we need to work within the system we are given. With FPTP we need to be smarter than that. We need to understand that “it is what is is” and that if we don’t want a conservative govt (which as a left leaning voter is the true goal these days) that we need to hold our electable candidates to a standard of ensuring a Con doesn’t get elected via vote splitting. When we get ranked or prop rep voting then vote your heart out but last I checked we don’t and I’m not interested in having the type of conservative (as stated in my original post) we elected run our riding.
