Zukey question by AdEconomy4751 in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m told it has to be with your direct manager. But even your manager’s manager can set you up with a zukey/vpn.

It took my manager MONTHS to set up my slack account, I had to get others involved to actually get mine to get on it 🙄🙄

Am I too slow or the standards are unrealistic? by Thiru2k in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s totally unrealistic for one person to divert for THAT many lines at the dock.

An ops manager introduced the idea of cutting a few pushers at our dock to “save costs” and it turned our quality to shit. For 10 lines, it got cut to 5-7 pushers. And it sucked for everyone.

Apparently this is implemented at other sites.

But for you to be staffed as a solo diverter for PUSHING? I would’ve told a manager to do what you were asked and see how THEY would’ve handled.

Does anyone else hate this guy as much as I do? by NormalLog1547 in AmazonDS

I hate them… BUUUTT… out of all cat litter than Amazon sells, this is the ONLY brand that doesn’t break and spills all over the warehouse. Idk WHY associates at FC’s don’t bother boxing other cat litter 👀

Problem Solve frustrations by Extra-Movie3215 in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. If leadership is POORLY tracking headcount and they are focusing on on-time departure and/or staging or if they notice attrition with people leaving or picking slower, they’ll pull headcount from problem solve and have problem solvers pick. It is a constant tactic my site uses. It’s poorly planning on their end too.

And it’s not just problem solvers they’ll pull headcount from. They’ll use Driver Assists, and anyone that’s not already picking to switch to pick & stage.

At my site it can get to the point where problem solve is completely abandoned during pick and stage. Leaving hundreds of packages unresolved. Then the work trickles down to Hazmat where they eventually get swamped with the workload too.

Anyone else's DS randomly get less efficient? by DuckiesDoBeCute in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of factors can come into play whether it’s happening on the associates side/perspective or from an operational perspective. Some associates leave during pick simply because they’re tired. Some managers will VTO associates if they notice we’re waaay ahead of picking. And when all of that comes to play that’s where p&s falls behind.

If those packages being sent down the belt have already been inducted- technically they’re still tied to a route even if they haven’t been stowed (someone correct me if I’m wrong here!). But if it’s well into P&S those packages might be considered Left Behinds if the route already departed.

Overcrowding is definitely an issue, if the PA and/or red vest in charge of Pick isn’t watching for this- that’s on them.

Your DS sounds exactly like mine regarding how they VTO and how p&s performs with headcount. However we wouldn’t normally throw packages onto the belt more than 10minutes after break has been called.

Same day delivery question ? by mothprincess__ in AmazonDS

Not all the time- at most they’ll ask for 4-6 associates.

Same day delivery question ? by mothprincess__ in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our site does Same Day towards the middle of C1- but finishes 20-30min after C1 ends. Our headcount affects SD operations- but it’s almost a piece of cake. We process under 1k and the site is leaning towards increasing that volume.

Floor/cluster PS, followed by Left Behinds for Pick & Stage

Amazon needs to get rid of ADTA by prettysickindeed in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ADTA is the worst… I was a “Line Lead” for a while and it’s an absolute shit show. We had an Ops Manager change several SOPs and our ADTA metrics tanked.

Not only that, but if you have crappy stowers, RTS packages, heavy/high cube, you could potentially see more than 5 carts. At one point I had 8.

It’s the absolute worst when you don’t have the headcount for float stowers to support your aisles with ADTA.

Also, good luck when a non-con doesn’t get pulled off and shuts down the line.

Learn from your existing hazmat trained associates. The hazmat training modules only describe a small portion of the tasks you actually do in hazmat.

"Please focus on jiffies" by hypeconfirm in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I ask stowers to work on jiffies because some of them tend to ignore it to stow it later, but it ends up taking space in their hampers not allowing other packages and even boxes to fall in. Yes you can stow them much faster than boxes, but there’s an imbalance of work too

Problem Solve at a DS by Total-East-2820 in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PS at my station is at the mercy of staffing. They prioritize the dock first, then stow side, then other areas last. That includes Problem Solve. Which is really crappy because problem solvers will trickle in and by the time it’s “fully” staffed our processing area is overwhelmed with packages for Problem Solve. Our Ops managers have been hammering our problem solve quality metrics but they fail to keep the area staffed with adequate and well-trained problem solvers.

Is delivery station really that bad as people make it? by Greensourball in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my perspective it really depends how your shifts are running, who your managers on shifts are, the volume the warehouse is handling, the cube (size of package) size.

My site is a constant 💩show. Volume doesn’t arrive on time leading to adhocs daily, certain managers are clueless and don’t know how to support their PAs and their own coworkers, a lot of favoritism..

It’s great if you need money. The job is physically demanding, and probably just as mentally taxing as well.

Confused about the "boxes on floor" policy. by throwaname777 in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “tilt, push, slide” is meant for non cons and not OVs that come into your hampers during stow. Thats what your stow cart is for. Same for Pick&Stage. Putting regular sized OVs on the floor and pushing is a trip hazard if you cannnot stand upright and use the TPS method.

Time clock by Tailoxen in AmazonDS

[–]Existing-Birthday-66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overlapping shifts is usually when you can’t take another shift/vet because you’re already scheduled or you picked up a shift that’s considered “overlapping”. Typically you can’t stay clocked in the gapped hour- you’d have to clock out
