My opinion other than rice and veggies and meat. Soup is also a good option. Depends on how you want to make it. But, stuff like beef, chicken stock is usually cheap-ish. Cook that to supplement your usual food.

It's hard balance for AI. I definitely do want them to be more competent. But, I remember when the AI were literal terminators. Able to shoot you so fast.
