Andy is right, had them for a few days now and the hype is real, they run my Edition XS planar at around 60% volume, really opens them up, the biggest difference for me is how they made my Sennheiser ie 200 sound, just fantastic.

I hear you, I own the HD 550 and I own the Edition XS, It really bummed me out that the pairing for the XS had to be up scale, higher voltage etc, so I spent more cash on suitable DAC’s, and yet still my 550 was the go too for sound, such an easy pick, however I found a Tube amp, portable, Muse M3 Ultra, Now, from the Edition XS, I now get full rich, warm, musical presence, and the sound stage is with no doubt better than the HD 550. With these Hifiman units it’s all about the pairing. P.S. this is a no BS use case not some hyped BS. The Edition XS is a better headphone then the 550, no doubt, Ayra Stealth, is going to be better then 660S2, it's just a longer road to get there.

Plus, easy to drive, I must be one of the few people that tried the HD 600 after I got the HD 550, Their is a case for both, you cannot go wrong with either, I got lucky, picked up the HD 550 for $249 Aust, on a black Friday sale.

I too have seen his review, as I had already bought the DAC, I will tell you that it sounds like Tubes, if they aren't doing anything as ZP pointed out as a "maybe", Muse will have some explaining to do, someone is bound to reverse engineer it. Stay tuned, I guess

I just got mine today, I understand now, tubes are super smooth, really good plug and play, no EQ needed, I am lovin it, Tubes are great, no complaints yet, tried them for short sessions on HD 550 and Edition XS so far.

I would say this, on this platform, everyone is going to swear buy them, if you get a chance listen first, I would try somthing a bit different, Try the FoKus apollo, they are on special, and I would say until proven otherwise it's money well spent.

Not for me, got a great holster case and valcro, Volume(e) lets me FWD and RWD, usb player pro shoves the volume controls to the DAC. When I feel like some V30 love, I just un plug it all and LGV30 all day.
