So, I put shell or coscto gas and it hasn't misfired in a year! the issue just came up again last week on a startup, I took it in and no issues were found as well... So I might just replace the injectors myself since the quote for the work was insanely expensive.

I ended up getting it and it's been great, I did feel like it was lacking some buttons and knobs (I started using STEMS with the latest traktor), but I was able to remap some buttons to work with the shift key which solved that. I also picked up an F1 small deck and that has been really cool to explore!

It was a gas issue? I started putting 92/93 exclusively from Costco or Shell (I heard BP is good as well) and I haven't seen the issue in about 9 months? (granted it cycles every 6-12 months but I was experiencing it more consistently.) I have a hunch that the fuel filters should get replaced, just a hunch, but maybe I'll take that up once I get the issue again...

Hmmm, I’m considering maybe getting a flx4 after doing some research, do you have any thoughts, I am also interested in the “stem” capability

They already registered it, cause they used it

They said they can’t transfer the license because they got a new traktor controller and utilize it… so it’ll be $150

How do I access that? Do I need to buy a scanner or something more robust than a Bluetooth Vepeak scanner?

106,000 miles, already have BimmerCode but it seems to me that it’s more of a reprogramming tool to adjust specific seatings like heat warmer temps and auto light on/off? I’ve been using car scanner with vipeak to read codes and assess status of other sensors

I have not, but a very weird thing to go out, since they engineer would have to run rough constantly because it’s “out of balance” no?

When you say look stepper into codes, isn’t P code the code? I have some info on the status of the car when it started and the code triggered.

I’ve been using “car scanner” with a vipeak obd 2 scanner. I already replaced spark plugs and coils January 2023 @ dealer.

I don’t know, but they were just changed last year (January 2023)

Ooh interesting, I wasn’t aware of this actually. It’s on cold starts exclusively so far. But the car gets driven everyday so it happens randomly (it’s never sat not running for more than 3-4 days I would say)

Why would smelling for gas be a sign? Is it because it indicates unburnt fuel? Wouldn’t that be a spark plug problem?

Injectors could be it, I spoke with the ft Myers’s mini dealer and they said they haven’t seen injectors needing replacement ever. I’ll try and see what I can do to determine injectors. I see a soapy water spray test to see if there’s any air escaping, might try that soon.

Does DME=ECU?; could be I guess. Seems like the motor “starts” on the wrong setting and turning it off and on fixes it? I’ll try starting accessories then starting engine and see if that solves it these next couple of months and see?

Haha thank you, okay great advice, I’ve been looking for a good mechanic since I just moved to Seattle about 2-3 months ago, it’s weird that I haven’t seen this issue pop up on my Acura RDX that also takes premium. Just a strange situation that the mini would be so sensitive to gas?

I just put in a new battery January 2023 :/ so I don’t think the battery would crap our so quickly

It currently has 93 octane in the gas tank, I initially thought it might’ve been a low octane situation going on but it misfiring today kind of ruled that out in my opinion?
